Isekai anime has been taking center stage for quite a long time now, and it’s almost like the sports genre has disappeared. The last few seasons were awful for sports fans as the genre did not receive enough attention.
Much to the delight and relief of fans, the anime adaptation of the well-loved baseball manga “Oblivion Battery” was announced in December 2023. And Kadokawa is back with more updates.
Kadokawa announced the theme song artists for Mikawa’s ‘Oblivion Battery’ anime. The rock band Mrs. Green Apple performed the opening theme song “Lilac,” while the rock band Macaroni Enpitsu performed the ending theme song “Wasurena Uta.” The anime is set to debut in April 2024.
Makoto Nakazono (episode director for Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, SSSS.Gridman) directs the anime at MAPPA. Fans are losing their mind at the insane lineup of staff members working on the anime.
It makes sense, as the manga is prominent in Japan. Fans also do not need to worry about the animation quality since MAPPA is heading the project.

The storyline is typical and follows the pair of Kei and Haruka, a skilled pitcher and catcher duo. However, Kei loses his memory, and this pair, who were unbeatable, enroll in a high school with no baseball team.
The rest, as we know- convince other players, form a team, and win matches with the power of friendship. Despite being cliché, the series is well-executed and keeps us gripped. It is a must-watch, especially for fans parched for a proper sports anime.
About Oblivion Battery
Bōkyaku Battery is a Japanese baseball manga series written and illustrated by Eko Mikawa. An anime television series also by MAPPA is set to premiere in April 2024.
Haruka is a strong pitcher praised as perfect, and Kei is a skilled catcher known as the “General” who has lost his memory due to amnesia. The talented pair were hard to defeat in junior high, and they crushed other players’ dreams. They both enroll in the no-name Kotesashi High School in Tokyo, where they encounter other baseball players who had quit after losing to Haruka and Kei.
