Veteran Call of Duty players are in for a treat! The theater mode is making a comeback in the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Recent titles in the franchise did not feature it but according to Treyarch, the awaited mode is returning, and for good reason.
What is Theater Mode?
Theater Mode lets you review recent matches and your best moments. Basically, it is a playback feature. As simple as it sounds, it holds a significant place in Call of Duty games.
Not many of us record our matches unlike streamers. It is nice to have an option to look back on memorable moments whether it was a spectacular shot, or a near-impossible clutch.
Earlier, players could further break down recordings into smaller parts, making them ideal for a post online.
Theater Mode was first introduced in the original Black Ops. Soon becoming a fan favorite, it made its way to every Black Ops title and the first Modern Warfare.
Theater Mode has a lot of potential to flourish the Call of Duty community. Simply speaking about a moment in-game is okay but when you have video evidence to back it up, your claim becomes ten-folds more interesting. With the hopes of bringing more Call of Duty content online, the developers aim to bring Black Ops 6 to the forefront.
Roadmap to Black Ops 6 Launch
We have a few good weeks until Black Ops 6 launches on October 25th. However, the schedule is jam-packed!
The First Big Update (Aug 21)
- Game file reorganization
- Separating Call of Duty: Warzone from the default download for annual titles
- Implementing new texture streaming tech
This initial update will pave the way for a much bigger makeover. It will give players more control over what they are downloading. Call of Duty games are no joke in terms of file sizes. Enforcing a new streaming tech will help reduce file and download sizes.
The update will be split into two for PS5 players. PC users can download it in one go. As a thank you token, you will receive:
- 10 1-Hour Double Player XP Tokens (10 Hours Total)
- 10 1-Hour Double Weapon XP Tokens (10 Hours Total)
- 10 Battle Pass Token Tier Skips
Open Beta (Aug 30)
Players who have Call of Duty Season 5.5 update installed will automatically get the Open Beta as an additional update. Those who are new can download it from the concerned platforms.
You can preload Black Ops 6 content from August 28th itself.
Once the Beta is over, it will be removed during the Season 6 update.
New User Interface (Mid-October)
Say hello to an optimized menu and navigation experience!
There’s no exact date for this update yet because the Call of Duty team is still working on some final changes.
It will feature a “landing zone” i.e. a one-stop for the most popular content. For now, it will feature Warzone along with the most recent launch.
Black Ops 6 Launch (Oct 25)
Finally, what everyone has been waiting for!
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was launched back in 2020. It has been a few years and it is time to bring back the much awaited Black Ops series.
Fans have a lot to be excited for and rightly so. Here’s a hint, be prepared to take down zombies.
