The ‘The Yokai Next to Me’ manga takes place in a rural town and tells stories of the carefree, heartwarming, and sometimes mysterious lives of yokai, humans, and gods who live alongside each other in the town.
Long ago, the Gods used to live on Earth with humans, which gave birth to ‘Yokai’ beings with strange forms and powers, but just like humans, they also had feelings. Soon after the Gods left the earth, the Yokai and the humans continued living together.
An anime adaptation was announced for the fourth volume of the manga on April 7, 2022, but now we finally have some good news as, on Thursday, manga creator Noho stated that their ‘The Yokai Next to Me’ manga will be adapted into an anime. The anime will be broadcast on television in 2024.
More than a year after its initial reveal, the supernatural slice-of-life series ‘The Yokai Next to Me’ is finally here. Though additional details about the production, such as staff and cast, are yet to be revealed.
Noho’s ‘The Yokai Next to Me’ manga began on Twitter in August 2017, before being serialized on East Press’ Mato Gross website from July 2018 and published as four collected volumes in print.
The upcoming anime ‘The Yokai Next to Me’ is a really wholesome series, and personally, I am a sucker for slice-of-life anime. Make sure to check back, as we will update any information that is released for the anime.
