Season 2 of The White Lotus hit its midway mark with this week’s episode and has successfully turned the guests’ lives upside down, and their true colors are more or less starting to show.
Episode 4 finally brought the other two characters missing from the main cast of the current season, introducing Tom Hollander’s Quentin and Leo Woodall’s Jack.
By the episode’s end, Quentin replaces Portia as Tanya’s emotional crutch, and Daphne and Cameron’s secrets are out. At the same time, Harper learns Ethan is keeping some from her, and Albie is finally learning to live a little.
Portia finally got the foreign hookup she’d desired for in Jack, but that meant proving Albie right about his “nice guy” theory. But before the viewers can feel bad about the youngest and most innocent Di Grasso, Lucia sets her eyes on Dominic’s son. This decision comes at a time when she suddenly starts to question her line of work and its tediousness.
Meanwhile, Harper is aching to return to Ethan, putting her worries to rest about his night with Cameron, and spilling the beans on his friend’s sham of a marriage, even though she promised Harper she won’t.
But maybe the Bro Code is stronger than the Girl Code since Harper’s confession and pointed questions didn’t prompt Ethan to divulge in his wild night. And thus, the miscommunication leads to further disastrous turns when Harper finds Cam’s condom wrapper and assumes it’s Ethan’s.
Episode 4 ends with Lucia and Albie and Portia and Jack committing risqué activities in different rooms, and Harper slowly pondering where her marriage went wrong while she was busy judging others.
This episode finally gave Portia what she wanted, freedom from Tanya and a boyfriend familiar with how things work in the sandbox, while also getting Albie what he needed, a little confidence to tell his dad off and have his first casual experience.
Episode 4 exposed the cracks in Cameron and Daphne’s marriage while also deepening the distance between Ethan and Harper, and it’ll be pretty fun to see where this flipped dynamic takes us in this season.
