The Veil Season 2: Release Date, Plot and Everything We Know

Fans were thrilled when it was reported that Steven Knight, the creative mind behind the hit show Peaky Blinders, is making a comeback with a new series called The Veil.

The series also garnered adoration and appreciation from fans due to its action-packed premises.

The series revolves around Imogen Salter (Elisabeth Moss), an experienced MI6 agent entrusted with tracking Adilah El Idrissi (Yumna Marwan) and unmasking her real identity.

With the first season’s conclusion leaving many questions unanswered, fans are eagerly anticipating a potential second season.

1. Is The Veil Season 2 happening?

As of now, FX has not yet given the green light for a second season of The Veil. Despite being initially presented as a limited series, Elisabeth Moss has expressed her eagerness to reprise her role.

“First of all, Steven’s writing is just so delicious to do. I have loved working with FX. Fargo and FX were the reason why I did The Handmaid’s Tale,” the actress revealed to Collider. “It’s the reason I thought, ‘Oh, there’s this thing after Mad Men that’s continuing to happen in television and in streaming.’ I have loved working with them.”

Despite The Veil’s lukewarm critical reception and miniseries status, the show could continue into season 2 with enough popularity. This is evidenced by FX’s plans to develop seasons 2 and 3 of Shōgun, another show billed as a limited series released this year.

It’s also clear that given the cliffhanger season 1 of the thriller ends, there’s much more story to be told with Imogen. Her father’s reemergence could lead to a new conspiracy that she has to investigate and maybe even a global threat she must face.

2. What could be a potential plotline for The Veil Season 2?

The second season could be about Imogen’s rise inside the intelligence services by delving deep into her past.

Also, a spin-off on Max Peterson, played by Josh Charles, who gets things done by hook or crook, would be great as his character arc deserves some more digging, which might yield results regarding the role he’s playing as the wicked CIA officer.

All in all, the prospect of seeing Imogen back on our screens is captivating. Season 2 could delve into themes of political intrigue, the pursuit of justice, the gray areas between right and wrong, and the cynical world of espionage with high stakes.

3. The Veil Season 1 Ending Explained

Episode 6, “The Cottage,” forces Imogen to see her ex-lover and former mentor, Michael Althorp, played by James Purefoy, who has only appeared in flashbacks until now. Only he can help her get the forged passports to reunite Adilah with her daughter, Yasmina.

During the visit, Michael plays mind games with Imogen, and the audience learns that Michael is the father of her dead child. The audience also learns that Michael is collaborating with the Russians like Imogen’s father did until he is assassinated for being a double agent.

Imogen seduces her father’s protege and leads him to the bedroom, where they nearly kill each other before the timely arrival of French DGHSE agent Malik kills Michael.

While fleeing with Adilah, Michael’s chauffeur Patrick kills Adilah. The distraught Imogen found that Adilah had scrawled the name of the U.S. ship being targeted, Provadia, on the windshield before dying.
