“Am I gonna go crazy?” asks a worried Julian Chase (Michael B. Jordan) when the Union attempts to assault his mind. After looking at the gen:LOCK season 2 trailer released by HBO Max, we’re asking the same question.
gen:LOCK is coming back with a bang, and this time, it’s the honored Holon pilot Julian Chase against himself as the Unity takes control of his mind.
Supposedly dead in season 1, the pilot makes a heroic return in the anime-influenced sci-fi series’ sequel. The new season has Chase leading the team into a whole new epic battle while he battles himself in the mind games.
There’s another problem: Military leader Raquel Marin believes that their gen:LOCK technology might be outdated, hinting at a new technology that the Unity might use for their battle.
However, we see glimpses of Julian losing his mind as he says he “can see the dark places” inside him. We’re then introduced to this dark version of Julian Chase, complete with red eyes and red armor.
With an attack on the leader’s mind, the Union has found an easy way to end the fight. Or have they?
Julian also has another mystery to solve. The new Holons are working on someone else’s orders. Our guess is definitely the Union, but who, in particular?

A brief part of the official synopsis for the sequel reads:
As Dr. Weller (Tennant) works to crack the gen:LOCK code, it’s up to Chase, Miranda (Fanning), Cammie (Williams), and their team of intrepid Polity fighters to fend off the authoritarian Union. But as the war rages on, Chase must decide if he’s willing to sacrifice everything – including friends, family, and his own humanity – to save an increasingly hostile world.
Synopsis
gen:LOCK season 2 will premiere on HBO Max on November 4.
