There’s no other franchise that the audience has a bigger love-hate relationship with than The Twilight Saga. The franchise is based on the Twilight book series by Stephanie Meyer (which was heavily inspired by My Chemical Romance and their ‘goth vampire’ aesthetics).
Whether you watched the films obsessing over wanting to be a vampire in middle school, split between ‘Team Edward’ and ‘Team Jacob,’ or just to see what the fuss was all about, the franchise was the hot topic around the late 2010s.
Now the franchise has found a new home as Netflix announced that all five films in The Twilight Saga will be available to stream on their platform next month, from Friday, July 16.
The official Netflix account (@netflix) announced the news on Monday via a tweet:
“You don’t know how long I’ve waited for you…
to know that all five films in The Twilight Saga are coming to Netflix (in The US) on July 16!”
Netflix
US subscribers will be able to watch Twilight (2008), The Twilight Saga: New Moon(2009), The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (2011), and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 (2012).
The Twilight Saga was briefly available on Hulu last year before disappearing from the streaming platform. The franchise picked up its popularity online since last year’s release of the sequel book Midnight Sun.
Tumblr trends expert Amanda Brennan told ComicBook.com,
“We’ve been looking at trends through the pandemic, and in the beginning, we saw Twilight really pop off in March and April, It’s like that time in 2008 when you were a kid, and it was this fantasy that you can dive into. And now, I feel like we’ve been in this Twilight renaissance for a little bit.
The new book has come out, and people are really diving into that fantastical element. So we’ll see a lot of “Team Jacob,” “Team Edward” kind of stuff. The kind of things you would have seen on an Angelfire or GeoCities fan-fiction website.”

Author Stephanie Meyer has previously expressed her desire to add two more books to the franchise. So, maybe if those books were to get film adaptations as well, then the Twilight fever might just come back once again.
