Blue Lock Chapter 271 spoilers
The Blue Lock chapter 271, titled “Life is Beautiful”, is a captivating continuation of Rin’s story, focusing on his early days and his relationship with his elder brother, Sae Itoshi and Rin’s true nature.
Rin’s Destructive Tendencies
The chapter opens with the Itoshi brothers returning home, where their mother questions Rin about a broken toy. Sae steps in, a guardian angel in disguise, taking the blame to protect Rin from being scolded. As Sae is taken aside by their father to talk, the siblings share a mischievous moment, sticking their tongues out at each other.
The chapter then shifts to a popular children’s show called ‘Evolmen,’ which has heroes fighting monsters. The show seems to be loved by children of Rin’s age, who mimic its scenes at kindergarten as they yell, “Life is beautiful.”
As the teacher and the other kindergarteners play out the scene, Rin, observing this, makes a daring decision. He decides to disrupt the Jenga tower during his turn by falling into it. We then see Rin taking another bold step, jumping off a high spot in the playground, aiming to land on a flock of pigeons. He misses and ends up injuring himself with a bleeding nose.
Origin of Rin’s Ego and Truth
At home, Rin is engrossed in a television show depicting a cheetah’s hunt. His parents, in a separate conversation, discuss his behavior, labeling it as impulsive and disruptive, and its impact on Sae. Rin, overhearing this, is visibly distressed. Sae, sensing his brother’s vulnerability, offers him ice cream in an attempt to comfort him.
However, in the Blue Lock chapter 271 leaks, Rin, struggling with his feelings, asks Sae if he is considered weird and if his presence bothers others. Sae, showing his understanding and compassion, admits that he, too, is often called weird and annoying. When asked if that made him unhappy, Rin instead says that if he was like his brother, it was alright.
Later, Sae notices Rin’s intense gaze fixed on Evolmen and inquires about it. Rin, with a spark in his eyes, shares his admiration for the boss monster. He explains how he is in awe of its resilience, how it fearlessly confronts a foe much stronger, and how it’s willing to stake its life in the battle. This admiration, a reflection of Rin’s innermost desires, ignites a fire within him. He too yearns to fight someone amazing someday, even if it means getting hurt or beaten.
Returning to the present, Rin has a profound realization about his ego. It’s not just a destructive impulse, but a force that brings about ‘destruction at the cost of life.’ This understanding of his true nature, like a heavy cloak, settles on his shoulders, strengthening his resolve.
As Rin is undergoing this realization, Michael Kaiser challenges Rin for the ball, calling him rude. The chapter ends as it reveals that chapter 272 will be titled “Rock-Paper-Scissors” with a full-color opening page.
About Blue Lock
Blue Lock is a Japanese manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine since August 2018. Blue Lock won the 45th Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category in 2021.
The story begins with Japan’s elimination from the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which prompts the Japanese Football Union to start a program scouting high school players who will begin training in preparation for the 2022 Cup.
Isagi Youichi, a forward, receives an invitation to this program soon after his team loses the chance to go to Nationals because he passed to his less-skilled teammate.
Their coach will be Ego Jinpachi, who intends to “destroy Japanese loser football” by introducing a radical new training regimen: isolate 300 young strikers in a prison-like institution called “Blue Lock”.
