The spinoff anime of “That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime” called The Slime Diaries is out with its 5th episode. The story of this anime is irrelevant to the main plot, hence making it an enjoyable watch with no heavy moments.

Episode 5, titled “Return of the Summer Festival,” starts off with Rimuru surprising everyone with the idea of a Summer Festival.

Everyone takes a liking to this idea. Rimuru and his people immediately start preparing for the Summer Festival. In the span of a week, they plan it precisely the way Rimuru expects them to.

The day of the Summer Festival has arrived. Everyone is in high spirits. Rimuru and his attendants have dressed royally in a Kimono. 

Since Rimuru lived in Japan in his previous life, he missed few aspects of it. Hence this Japanese-styled festival helps him reminisce a lot from his past life.

Rimuru is ecstatic when he finally eats Takoyaki, which happens to be one of his favorites in his previous life.

Rimuru himself erects a stall that sells Shaved Ice. The ice is produced from Rimuru’s magic. Shaved Ice is not a common food item in this world, and hence everyone is caught off-guard by its sweet taste.

Rimuru tries to beat Hakuro and Gobta’s goldfish stall. However, their stall is way too difficult to overcome due to the sheer size of the goldfish.

One of the important events of the Summer Festival is the parade. Rimuru and his attendants, Shion and Shuna, are seated on a float that is pulled by manual labor. 

The last event of the Summer Festival is the lighting of fireworks. Fireworks are not a very common sight for the monsters of this world. Hence, the lighting of fireworks marked the simple yet beautiful end to the Summer Festival.

4. About That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime

That Time I Got Reincarnated as Slime is a Japanese manga series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. It was serialized online in 2013 but was later shifted to Micro Magazine as a light novel in 2014. It currently has 21 volumes.

The story of Tensei Shitara Slime follows the journey of Satoru Mikami after he died and reincarnated as a slime in fantasy land. A slime is a creature that reproduces the form and powers of anything that it absorbs or eats.

Satoru starts eating all the magical herbs and crystals in the cave he woke up in and stumbles upon a dragon who had been captured and couldn’t move due to a barrier. Since both of them had nothing else to do, they befriend each other. The dragon accidentally makes Satoru a named monster, and Satoru promises him that he’d find a way to break the barrier. Hence, an unknown journey begins with this unusual friendship.
