The Umbrella Academy is quite a unique superhero team. In the most convoluted sense, all members are a family raised by a borderline psychopathic person who gave him the powers they have.
If you’ve just started watching the show and are wondering who’s who and what exactly are everyone’s superpowers, you’ve arrived at the right place. Here’s a complete list of The Umbrella Academy superheroes and their superpowers.
There are seven members in The Umbrella Academy, and each of them has a distinct power. These seven powers are:
- Number One (Luther) – Super Strength
- Number Two (Diego) – Perfect Aim
- Number Three (Allison) – Mind Control
- Number Four (Klaus) – Speaks to the Dead
- Number Five – Space and Time Travel
- Number Six (Ben) – Summons Tentacle Monsters
- Number Seven (Viktor) – Sound Manipulation
Number One (Luther) – Super Strength
When it comes to sheer physical strength, no one beats Luther. His ape-like physique is a result of that. He can carry large objects such as vehicles and heavy trucks. However, he’s also extremely enduring and resilient. His endurance is so high that he can shrug off most physical attacks, whether they’re by humans or by extremely dangerous weapons such as the bazooka.
Number Two (Diego) – Perfect Aim
His signature move is knife-throwing. However, there’s a lot of nuance to this power. He can curve his knives the way he wants, stop them mid-air, and manipulate their motion while they are mobile. Besides this, he can also curve other objects and manipulate their trajectory.
Overall, this superpower is quite useful as a standalone one or when paired with Diego’s martial arts and combat skills. He is agile, flexible, and a highly-skilled fighter.
Number Three (Allison) – Mind Control
Allison is one of those enhanced beings in The Umbrella Academy whose powers have evolved. At first, she could control the minds of the people she was physically close with. She had to start a sentence with ‘I heard a rumor,’ and then whatever she said would make the person do it.
However, due to specific events, her abilities were amplified. She didn’t have to use the key phrase. She could also manipulate minds without as close physical contact with the person as before.
Besides this, her secondary power is to manipulate realities. We see this in a scene where she spontaneously caused a phenomenon and even exploded three people’s heads.
Number Four (Klaus) – Communication with Ghosts
Klaus sees the dead and can communicate with the spirits of people who were once alive. This superpower has done him more bad than good. He was haunted by the remnants of his brother’s memories and was in constant touch with him. This was one of the many reasons Klaus was traumatized and got into substance abuse.
However, his powers do add a lot of value in a fight. He can conjure up spirits, summon existing ones, and make them do things he wishes. This power becomes even more lethal when paired with abilities such as regenerative healing, self-resurrection, and retroactive immortality.
Number Five – Space and Time Travel
Number Five is the one superhero who doesn’t really have a name. This is due to his superpower of moving through space and time. Number Five can teleport to any short/long distance and travel through time.
However, these powers have their limits. Five cannot travel through space frequently because he loses energy and feels exhausted. He is also not entirely in control of time travel.
Number Six (Ben) – Summons Tentacle Monsters
Ben has a portal in his stomach through which he can summon the tentacle monster called Eldritch at his will. Besides this, he only has the power to possess people for a brief time. However, this doesn’t work effectively on Klaus, considering that communicating with the dead and possessing people is his ability too.
Number Seven (Viktor) – Sound Manipulation
Viktor is the most powerful superhero of The Umbrella Academy. He can manipulate sound in multivarious ways to harm people and cause large-scale destruction. The superhero can also store sound energy, levitate, and perform telekinesis by leveraging sound waves around objects.
However, his energy manipulation game is pretty strong, considering he can absorb different kinds of energy to convert it into various forms of sound. He can generate force fields, emanate energy blasts, and drain people of their energy.
While these are some of his most potent powers, others are slightly less potent as well. These include enhanced hearing, weather manipulation, removal of power, and sharing his powers with others.
Overall, these are the seven powers in The Umbrella Academy.
