Last, we saw the Seven Deadly sins defeat the Demon King, who was using the land of Britannia as its vessel. The Seven Deadly Sins also bid farewell to Escanor, who drained his entire life force during the battle.

Since she felt the need to fill the void in her heart by consuming knowledge, she is going to bring back chaos in this world.

Episode 21, titled “What the Witch Had Always Wanted.” starts off with Meliodas and the others celebrating their victory over the Demon King.
Gilthunder, Howzer, and Griamore are surprised to see Vivian, who was supposedly dead. She mentions how the time of Chaos is going to follow now that the balance of the world is destroyed.
Diane is delighted that everyone in the Seven Deadly Sins has achieved their goal. However, this makes her question Merlin’s wishes, as she has never expressed them before.
Meliodas and the others persuade Merlin to tell them her wish. Merlin proceeds to show them what her ultimate wish is and teleports them to another place.
Merlin brings Meliodas and the others to the Magic Lake. Upon questioning as to why they are there, Merlin says that her goal is the revival of Arthur.
Merling uses the lake’s power and revives Arthur, whose powers go berserk when he sees Meliodas. She claims him to be the Lord of Chaos.
Meliodas is furious that Merlin has revived such an ominous power, especially after just defeating the Demon King.
Merlin claims that this is her ultimate wish. After which, the priestess of Chaos speaks to the Seven Deadly Sins, explaining Merlin’s actions.
The episode ends with Meliodas and the others being aware that Merlin has always been in love with Meliodas. However, she could not bring herself to resent Elizabeth and him. So she resorts to bringing Chaos back into this world to fill the void inside her.
