The spirit tortoise began its havoc in episode 2 of The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 titled “Footprint of the Spirit Tortoise.”
Ost Horai was introduced and more of the lore was explored. The episode acted as a build-up before the spirit tortoise invasion in the next episode.
Some fans were a little disappointed with how some of the details about the lore and spirit tortoise were rushed in the episode and many details from the light novel.

Naofumi and his party are shocked by the spirit tortoise’s sudden invasion and will be fighting against it in episode 3 of The Rising of the Shield Hero titled “Shaking Land.”
Now that Horai is introduced in the story, it will be exciting to see what role she plays in the coming episodes. Knowing where she comes from and her true intentions, things are going to escalate quickly now.

Episode 2 Recap
A mysterious character shows up in front of Naofumi and the party and begs Naofumi to kill her. After that, she suddenly disappears.
Naofumi goes to a meeting with the kings of some nations where they discuss the Spirit Tortoise destroying the capital. It is now taking a nap at a border town and its next target might be Lowhirot.
Naofumi tells them to come up with some plan because they only have two-three days left before the spirit tortoise begins its attack again.
Some of the kings disagree with him telling that they have strong knights and they can stop it by themselves and don’t need the help of the four heroes, but one of them says that the tortoise is too powerful and they have to take the four heroes help.
Eclair meets Naofumi’s party, while he is in the meeting. She tells them she heard that the Shield Hero is going to fight a legendary monster so she came there to help them.
One of the kings asks about the whereabouts of the Seven Star heroes. They are the heroes who have lower power than the four heroes, some of them were summoned from another world too.
Someone appears before the kings during the meeting. She is revealed to the concubine of the King of the Spirit Tortoise Kingdom. She introduces herself as Ost Hourai, she was the king’s concubine and regent.
She reveals to be a familiar of the Spirit Tortoise. She just took the form of a human. Her job was to get closure to the center of power and gather some souls. She reveals that the Spirit Tortoise’s task is to block the waves of calamity by using souls as a resource.
She also tells that someone broke the seal of the Spirit Tortoise and unleashed it, and now it’s causing havoc. She wants to stop it from destroying the world. The kings start to discuss who is going to take the lead which angers Naofumi and he leaves.
Rapthalia tells Naofumi not to worry about the kings as they just want to go protect their homes. So he should cooperate with them. The next day, they go out with each nation who are accompanied by their knights and army.
Each nation provides with one of their specialty like weaponry, mages, etc. Naofumi gives everyone in his party some task to do.
Everyone prepares for the battle and at night Naofumi and the party sit down by a campfire where Ost gives some love tips to Rishia to try on the Bow Hero.
While they are discussing all this, the Spirit Tortoise invades the mountains.

Tate no Yusha no Nariagari or The Rising of the Shield Hero is an isekai light novel series written by Aneko Yusagi. It was initially published as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website from 2012 to 2015.
In August 2013, Media Factory started publishing the light novel series with an expanded storyline featuring illustrations by Seira Minami.
Later on, Kinema Citrus adapted the light novel into an anime television series. The first episode aired on 9 January 2019.
