The Assassins in Assassin’s Creed need to be quick and agile, but who can be the fastest?
The recent release of the series saw the AC universe expand to Norse mythology with Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Even though we got a bit less of the Creed v Templars feud, it still was a banger.
Coming back to assassins, many people know who the strongest assassin is but one fact that is often overlooked is speed. To be a great master assassin, you need to have the ability to get in and out of an area relatively quickly. After all, you don’t need to be found standing over a dead templar!
To find the fastest assassin in the AC universe is not a straight task, as some assassins like Bayek do better in ancient Egypt’s open fields, while Edward is more apt at jumping between ships in combat. To get the one who trumps them all, I compiled all the assassins so far and ranked them. Let’s see who the top 10 quickest assassins in assassin’s creed are. Be aware this post may contain spoilers, so consider yourself warned.
10 Jacob Frye
Appears in: Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
Fastest In: Urban Environments
Who else to start the list, then one of the Frye twins. Jacob Frye can be found in Central London in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and is the musclehead in the Frye family. Thanks to his father, Jacob was trained from birth to be a master assassin and is adept both at stealth and combat.
The most notable feature that sets Jacob apart from the other assassins is the rope launcher that enables him to move faster in the urban environment. Combine this with his dual hidden blades; he is indeed a deadly and fast assassin. Still, Jacob is more of a bar brawler when it comes to hand to hand combat that ultimately slows him down.
9 Evie Frye
Appears in: Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
Fastest In: Urban Environments
Evie Frye is the one with the brains and wit in the Frye duo. While Jacob is busy getting into all sorts of trouble, Evie is the one who finally saves the day. For me, she is the only protagonist in AC: Syndicate. Like her brother, she was also trained by her father, but was better at retaining tactical and critical training.
A master assassin, Evie utilized the rope launcher to gain speed advantages over her targets and to get out of tricky situations. Unlike her twin counterpart, she was more agile and more silent in her assassinations. Evie is also an exceptional free runner; she can almost scale all of London with ease, no matter the obstacles, which in turn solidifies her spot in the fastest assassin’s hall of fame.
8 Shao- Jun
Appears in: Assassin’s Creed: Chronicles
Fastest In: Open Areas
Jumping into the Brotherhood’s Chinese wing, we have the protagonist of AC: Chronicles, Shao Jun. Honestly, she is a bit underrated when compared to other assassins. It is not like she is some no-name assassin either. She was trained by the legendary Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
Shao Jun is trained in martial arts and uses a lighter modified hidden blade to suit her combat style with an additional blade in her boot. Armed with multiple blades she can gain higher combat speeds plus deadly kicks. After returning from Italy, she devised rope darts allowing her to parkour from ceilings and get into higher vantage points. Combine this with her throwing knives and she sure knows how to gain speed while taking on multiple enemies. In fact,hao-Jun should have gotten a proper title release.
7 Edward Kenway
Appears in: Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag
Fastest In: Naval Combat, Everything Water
Next up on the list, and my personal preference, is the Back Flag protagonist, Edward James Kenway, the Welsh pirate captain. Even though he was not an assassin from the beginning,
He used pirate plunders to earn more fame and glory.
His position in the list needs no introduction, given that Edward is second to none when it comes to naval combat. He is quick on a ship in battle, and no one can catch up to him, and I do not mean that figuratively. Most of the assassins in the other titles straight up die when they enter water.
Edward Kenway is also a master marksman, his speed in pistols and ranged weapons are unmatched in his era. Even though most weapons in his time were single fire only, he used to carry four pistols only to have quickfire! Medieval problems require medieval solutions indeed.
6 Bayek
Appears in: Assassin’s Creed Origins
Fastest In: Open Fields
The hero set amidst the Greek and Roman culture of Ancient Egypt, Bayek of Siwa, is nothing but fast. Often regarded as the man of the old traditions, Bayek has always fought from the shadows, and to fight from the shadows, you must be relatively quick.
Bayek, as a warrior, is trained in all sorts of weapons, and he can pick the right weapon for the fight, making him the most versatile and agile warrior. Thanks to his agility, he can engage multiple opponents at once and return to the shadows to maintain his cover.
As a skilled free-runner, Bayek could scale Egypt’s gigantic pyramids and there was no natural obstacle that he could not conquer. Even if his abilities were not enough he founded the Brotherhood making him the absolute GOAT in his title release.
5 Conor kenway
Appears in: Assassin’s Creed 3
Fastest In: Natural Environments, Open Sprinting
Conor Kenway is not only a strong warrior but also comes from a strong heritage line. He is grandson to the infamous Edward Kenway and ancestor to Desmond Miles. Being born and raised among the American frontier as a hunter, Conor can move through natural environments like he was molded by mother nature herself.
Like his grandfather, Conor is built to be a true beast, more specifically built for speed. Combine quick tactical thinking and natural movements, and we get the deadly and fast Conor Kenway.
Even in the game, Conor feels the fastest when he breaks out on a sprint with his head lowered, and as a player, you can feel just how fast he is. If all the assassins were put in a natural all-out race and combat was not involved, I’m sure Conor would come out on top. Personally, he’d be my bet (until AC: Odyssey at least).
4 Arno
Appears in: Assassin’s Creed Unity
Fastest In: Parkour & Urban Movements
Coming towards the end of the list, Arno Victor Dorian is undoubtedly one of the top picks. The Austrian-French assassin from Assassin’s Creed: Unity is one of the most agile assassins from the series. A master assassin, Arno is skilled in multiple forms of combat and is even a master martial artist with high skills in both swordsmanship and marksmanship. In combat, Arno even defeated his own master!
When it comes to speed, there is no defeating the Frenchman at urban city movements and parkour. In Paris, Arno could practically reach any given point thanks to how well the city is packed for efficient parkouring.
The Frye twins come close to Arno’s abilities, but they are overly dependent on their rope launchers, while Arno is pure raw skill. In Assassin’s Creed unity, I felt Arno’s movements were the smoothest compared to other titles, and his agility on the walls was just pure satisfaction.
3 Ezio
Appears in: Assassin’s Creed 2, AC: Brotherhood, AC: Revelations
Fastest In: Combat Speed, Kill Streaks, Parkour
Ezio Auditore da Firenze is the fan-favorite choice, and rightly so! Appearing in not one but three Assassin’s Creed titles, Ezio is most;y untouchable when it comes to the top assassins. A master assassin and mentor in the Italian Brotherhood, Ezio is also the ancestor to Desmond Miles.
Mastered in the art of both armed and unarmed combat, Ezio is the one who can do it all. Be it parkour or free-running, he has all the skills a fast assassin needs. Parkouring in the city, he matches Arno, while scaling buildings comes toe to toe with the Frye twins, and is head on with Bayek and others in freerunning.
One field that Ezio pulls ahead is the multiple kill streaks in combat, and that is one art that an assassin must master. His kill streaks were the smoothest in the series, and one almost admires the art he executes them with.
2 Kassandra
Appears in: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Fastest In Open Fields, Combat
Many fans might dispute this entry in the list, but AC: Odyssey is, in fact, part of the AC universe, and its protagonist Kassandra can not be missed out on. A spartan mercenary, she has been trained from a young age and can wield spears, swords and bows, but chooses not to wear a shield, how badass!
What sets her apart is that Kassandra has the ‘Spear of Leonidas’ and with it as a Spartan DemiGod she can even face mythicals beasts like Cyclops. The spear gives her regenerative strength and speed.
So, she literally has powers that are out of this world and can beat pretty much anyone! Well yeah, but even without the spear and the fact that she is half-human, half Isu, she is one quick warrior. Kassandra could easily match Edward or Conor in an open field.
Combined with the spear, she is almost at the top of the list, but her speeds could not match the one true quick assassin.
1 Altair
Appears in: Assassin’s Creed
Fastest In Elusive Speeds, Combat, Kill Streaks, Free Running
Altair Ibn-La’Ahad is the fastest assassin in Assassin’s Creed. The only assassin in the Assassin’s Creed series that’s never gotten hit during combat, Altair needs no help from gadgets. He has pure raw skills perfected since he has been in training with the Creed from the day he was born.
Who else to claim the top spot than the one from where all legends begin? Altair was trained from birth by the Creed and became a master assassin at just 24. He has that natural affinity for skills that led him on a path of great success as an assassin.
As a master of stealth, Altair was capable of incredible parkour feats and was well versed in the lethal arts. No obstacle could stop him as he also trained extensively with his Eagle Vision ability.
He was able to overcome any human or terrain, ascend the highest towers, and jump without a hint of fear.
Compared to other assassins, they almost rely on their arsenal of weapons, be it the rope launchers or the roped darts. On the other hand, Altair had nothing but natural skills, which promptly propels him to the top.
What most people don’t realize is that in Assassin’s Creed 1, Altair has never been hit even once; that’s how quick he is! That, by default, makes him the fastest Assassin. Combining him with the Apple of Eden just made him unstoppable.
