Episode 5 ended with a huge turn of events as we get to see Norman again. Not only that, he was surrounded by his demon friends or subordinates who were protecting him.
The episode kept us wondering what might have happened to Norman in these past few months. How did he even find Emma and Ray in this vast demon world? Is he still a friend? Or did he join hands with the demons?
We bring you the latest episode updates for this anime as we ponder about these questions.
1. Episode 6 Speculations
Episode 6 will reveal what happened to Norman in all these months and how he is still alive. Moreover, he has a gang of demons who were protecting him from any possible threat.
The anime adaptation isn’t following the manga anymore, so it’s hard to predict what will happen next. But I have deduced a few possibilities that might have happened.
I. Why are Demons Protecting Norman?
The most probable and straight forward answer is – They are protecting Norman since he is the highest quality meat from the Grace Field farm. So, the demons cannot afford him getting hurt.
But then again, why did they keep him alive instead of processing him? There is a slim probability that the demons surrounding Norman aren’t demons at all.
They may be humans disguised as demons, just like Norman himself. It won’t surprise us much since those demons were human sized and were covered with clothes from top to bottom.
II. Are They Friends or Foes?
We know William Minerva went against the idea of raising and slaughtering children on farms. He even left behind clues in his books and a pen that guides the escapees to a shelter.
He couldn’t have done all these alone, right? He must have a group of followers who share the same idea. So, it is possible that Norman somehow got into contact with them, and they are working together for the freedom of the farm-raised children.
These are nothing but mere speculations. I am sure that the upcoming episode will clarify all our doubts.

I. Is Promised Neverland on Break This Week?
Episode 6 of The Promised Neverland will be released as per schedule. No such delay has been announced.
3. Episode 5 Recap
Episode 5 reveals that Emma and others have escaped from the forest and are hiding in a town full of demons. As risky as it may sound, this reckless move has given them easy access to food.
They can just get food from the market disguised as demons, so there is no risk of getting eaten by a huge monster anymore. But they have to be very careful; if even one of the demons finds out, it’s all over for them.
They are hiding inside a deserted temple and are most likely to starve to death if Emma fails to find an alternate food source. Emma blames herself for dragging her friends into this mess.
Then comes the part which I personally liked the most in Season 2 up till now. The second half of the episode portrays the hardships of the demons. Be it the human world or the demon world, ‘poverty and hunger’ is a perennial problem.
Just like us, demons live in a double standard society where the highest quality meat is reserved for the higher-ups, and the commoners are left with low-grade meat with which they can barely survive.
The episode brings back the ‘scary’ part of the Promised Neverland (which we have been missing lately) when a demon pays an unexpected visit to the temple where the children were hiding.
It is revealed that the demon is very old and is living the last few years of his life. He is here to pray for his family and can barely sense the humans around him.
Things get intensified when Emma helps that demon pick up the food that he dropped. For the first time, Emma feels sympathy for a demon and realizes that just like humans, demons have families too.
A town where demons are starving isn’t the safest place to dwell around. The hunger for human flesh makes them even more vulnerable to demon attacks.
Later one day when Emma, Ray, and others were shopping in the market, two demons discover their true identity. They chase the children through the roads till Norman arrives out of nowhere to rescue his friends.
