The Popular Pokémon Voice Actor, Rachael Lillies, has Passed Away at the Age of 46

In the recent shocking news, Rachael Lillis, known for voicing many iconic anime characters, sadly passed away on 10 August 2024 at the mere age of 46. 

She lost her battle with breast cancer, which started in May this year. Her sister had confirmed her death on a GoFundMe page created for her medical needs. 

Her sister, Laurie Orr, on Monday, shared her deep sorrow for her sister’s unexpected passing and wrote that Rachael’s health had been worsening this past week. She had thanked all the fans on behalf of her sister for all the support and kind. 

Legacy of Rachael Lillis

She was in the industry for nearly 23 years, and her first mainstream role was Satsuki from Takegami: Guardian of Darkness. Since then, she has been known for lending her beautiful voice to many popular anime characters in English dubs.

Her long list of voice roles includes Utena from Revolutionary Girl Utena, Princess Charlotte from Berserk, Mito Freecss from Hunter x Hunter, and many more.

She is popularly known for voicing Misty and Jessie from the acclaimed Japanese anime Pokémon in English dub. Apart from these iconic Pokémon girls, she’d also provided her voice for Pokédex, Beautifly, and Jigglypuff from the series.

Condolences from the Fellow Voice Actors

Veronica Taylor, an American Voice actress known for voicing Ash Ketchum from the Pokemon series, shared a post on her X on Monday, expressing her grief over Rachael’s passing. She also thanked all her fans for all the love and support she’d received on her and her family’s behalf. 

Another English Voice Actor, Daman Mills, known for voicing  Frieza in Dragon Ball Super, also had his condolences for her close ones and fans. He is grateful to her for giving beautiful childhood memories to cherish.

Her death left an irreplaceable void in fan’s hearts as she was an integral part of everyone’s childhood memories. People worldwide are sharing their love and sweet memories in remembrance of Rachael’s passing.
