If you have watched Black Mirror, you should be well acquainted with the undertone of The Peripheral. It shows a horror-filled dystopian world where technology has become our nemesis.
The first five episodes of The Peripheral have been very topsy-turvy. The production design, world-building, VFX, CGI, etc., have been impressive. But it has faltered in other places, like character development and dialogues.
In this week’s episode, another assassin was thrown into the mix to take on the mighty Fishers. The newly hired Bob was offered the same terms as Corbell. We got some backstory of Aelita and her previous relationships, and the episode ended with a bombastic showdown!
1. Episode 5 Synopsis/Speculations
The assault on Cherise was one of the highlights of this week’s episode. What an ending to a suspenseful episode! I mean, Flynne breaking Cherise’s neck was an excellent climax.
Now, some questions need to be answered. Did the actual Cherise get affected by this fight?
We know that damage to a person’s peripheral doesn’t affect the real person in most cases. But, in the previous episodes, Daniel’s sonic blaster gun left a mark on real Flynne even when it was fired at her peripheral. The franchise needs to stick to one set of rules regarding the working of this technology.
Flynne threatened Cherise in her own building and broke her neck. Cherise will not take this lightly. A full-on war is definitely on the cards here.
Flynne, on the other hand, will feel more confident after this victory. She will try to amass more allies and travel to London, 2100 to finish Cherise, once and for all.
In episode 5, a stranger took Bob away from Tommy’s custody. Now that Tommy has been in a purposeful car wreckage, he will become even more suspicious. He will possibly start arresting locals till he gets some answers.
Talking about answers, Wilf has yet to get many about Aelita. He will continue to search for his missing sister in the subsequent episodes along with Flynne.
A lot of unanswered questions and just three more episodes to go before they wrap up the first season. Stay tuned over the next three weeks to get the answers!
