Disney recently announced delays for several projects, including films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and franchises like Star Wars and Avatar. Among these pushbacks, many MCU Phase 5 and 6 films have now revised their dates to almost a year after the original dates. As disappointing as that is, one MCU film has retained its original release date.
Due on November 10, 2023, The Marvels has not been shifted to a later date and seems like the only film in the announced schedule that has managed to do so. Considering the film finished production and post months ago and has already released a trailer, it is understandable it is ready to premiere later this year.
Disney’s decision was influenced by many factors, including the WGA strike, and all the Avatar films and several Star Wars projects have also been pushed forward. The Marvel Studios films that have changed their dates are as follows:

Captain America Brave New World
It was previously dated for release on May 3, 2024, but it has now been moved to July 26, 2024.
Thunderbolts
It was previously dated for release on July 26, 2024, but it has now been moved to December 20, 2024.
Blade
It was previously dated for release on September 6, 2024, but it has now been moved to February 14, 2025.
Fantastic Four
It was previously dated for release on February 14, 2025, but it has now been moved to May 2, 2025.
Avengers: Kang Dynasty
It was previously dated for release on May 2, 2025, but it has now been moved to May 1, 2026.
Avengers: Secret Wars
It was previously dated for release on May 1, 2026, but it has now been moved to May 7, 2027.
Untitled Deadpool Film
It was previously dated for release on November 8, 2024, but it has now been moved to May 3, 2024.
As is evident, Deadpool 3 remains the only film which has moved up its schedule, now coming out almost half a year before its original release date. However, The Marvels remains the only film that has kept its theatrical release date unchanged.

The Captain Marvel sequel already jumped from Phase 4 to Phase 5 for several reasons and has faced several delays before landing on its current and unmoved release date. The next film after The Marvels will be Wade Wilson’s entry into the MCU.
Phase 5 films Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, and Blade will follow in 2024 and 2025 after Deadpool’s R-rated debut in the MCU. The Phase 6 films are spread out from 2025 to 2027, with Fantastic Four opening it, followed by Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
While this means we’ll get fewer Marvel films after 2024, Kevin Feige is sticking to his promise to trade the quantity of MCU films and bring back the pre-Phase Four quality. What do you make of these new dates? Let us know in the comments below!
