The Office Reboot: Cast, Plot and Everything We Know

Good news, Dunder Mifflin-ites! Peacock is returning to the same universe of The Office with a brand-new series from Greg Daniels, creator of the American version of the beloved workplace comedy.

1. Is the Office Spin-Off Happening?

The Office US spin-off series has officially been confirmed.

The currently untitled mockumentary, set in the same universe as the hit sitcom, has been granted a series order at Peacock (via Deadline), and production will begin in July.

The Office US co-creator Greg Daniels has teamed up with Michael Koman to create the series, which is set to star Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars) in a lead role alongside Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus).

Daniels and Koman will also serve as executive producers along with Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and Banijay Americas.

2. What is the new series set in The Office Universe about?

Set within the same universe occupied by the Dunder Mifflin crew, the new The Office series centers around the quirky employees of a dying newspaper in the Midwestern United States. The publisher’s only shot at reviving the historic rag is by recruiting volunteer reporters.

Peacock’s synopsis is as follows: “The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.”

“It’s been more than 10 years since the final episode of The Office aired on NBC, and the acclaimed comedy series continues to gain popularity and build new generations of fans on Peacock,” Lisa Katz, president of scripted content at NBCUniversal Entertainment, said in a statement.

3. Who Stars in the Office Spinoff?

As of this writing, Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore are the only confirmed actors. No character details are available now, but we know the show will feature an “ensemble” supporting cast.

4. Is John Krasinski Returning as Jim Halpert in the new Office Spin-Off?

On May 6, 2024, the Facebook page YODA BBY ABY claimed that the beloved TV show The Office will return on screens in August 2024 under a new name: The Office Returns,” with everyone’s favorite characters reprising their roles.

The Facebook page uploaded a TV poster for the series showing actor John Krasinski as Jim Halpert, who has been promoted to Scranton regional manager. The poster also includes the logo of streaming service Peacock.

The post had gathered over 39,000 shares and 37,000 comments and reactions at the time of this writing.

However, although a new instalment of the cherished TV series was reportedly on the way, the TV poster uploaded by YODA BBY ABY was not real.

The Facebook page that shared the rumor has uploaded dozens of fake television and movie posters and describes its output as being satirical, as follows:

“I’m just here to eat frogs, lift rocks and be satirical.” The page is 100% satire and fake news.

5. How to watch the original episodes of The Office?
