Production for Paramount+’s upcoming limited series The Offer had to be put on hold due to a positive Covid-19 test this Wednesday.
The positive test was in the central Zone A that includes the cast and those in their close vicinity. This comes just days after the series about the making of The Godfather began filming earlier in July.
According to Deadline, a rep for series producer Paramount Television Studios said in a statement,
Out of an abundance of caution, we have temporarily halted production on The Offer due to the return of a positive coronavirus test result during routine testing. We will continue to follow all safety protocols and monitor the situation closely.
Several big, highly-anticipated shows have been forced to stop production due to positive cases as recently there has been a surge of the Delta Covid variant in Los Angeles. These include Woke, American Horror Story, Westworld, Bridgerton, and House of the Dragon.
The series was adapted from Mario Puzo’s bestselling novel and based on two-time Oscar-winning producer Al Ruddy’s experience of making the legendary 1972 film, The Godfather, which Francis Ford Coppola directed.
The series previously went through significant changes as Miles Teller replaced Armie Hammer for the role of Al Ruddy.
The 10-episode series has a big, star-studded cast including Miles Teller, Matthew Goode, Giovanni Ribisi, Colin Hanks, Dan Fogler, Juno Temple, Burn Gorman, Justin Chambers, Patrick Gallo, Anthony Ippolito, Josh Zuckerman, Meredith Garretson, among others.
The Offer has stopped filming for now, with no news of when production would resume. Hopefully, with proper safety measures, the crew is able to get back on track and finish production as scheduled.
