The penultimate episode of The Mosquito Coast season 2 beats around the bush quite predictably.
As I’ve said in my previous updates, this season has meandered itself to the point of monotony and has not been able to justify its runtime of ten episodes. Nevertheless, with just the finale to go, we might see some action next week.
So, without any further ado, let’s get Sherlocking!
Season 2, Episode 9 Synopsis/Speculation
The next episode is going to have many deaths. You don’t end a season without killing off at least one or two characters.
Richard will be the scapegoat for the finale. In this week’s episode, Richard’s cat-and-mouse chase reaches its peak after Margot rats him out to the authorities.
I think they will end it with a fierce shootout, and the Cartel might also get involved. Allie has already threatened to reveal Guillermo’s skimming to the Cartel. I feel like his days in the show are numbered.
Two bombastic chases can run simultaneously in the finale, with Richard running from the authorities and Guillermo from the Cartel. Who will survive to tell the tale, if any?
Also, Margot has made many enemies this season. Her nemesis will be Allie himself. Maybe not in this season, but Allie will surely kill her sometime in future episodes.
Moreover, if Richard manages to come out of this alive, he will not rest before taking his revenge on Margot.
Finally, without a play for immunity, the entire family will be forced to go to Mosquito Coast with Allie. It will lay the foundation for Season 3. We will finally see them living on the Mosquito Coast, something for which we have waited for two seasons.
Season 3 is expected to be the closest to The Mosquito Coast movie in terms of the storyline. Hopefully, we will finally get some adrenaline-inducing content!

In episode 9, Dina finds herself alone after Adolfo helps her escape. She spends the entire day splurging cash in a luxury bar, eventually realizing that normality isn’t for her. Dina learns that she is not cut out for everyday life.
Meanwhile, Allie attempts to blackmail Guillermo into letting him take possession of the Mosquito Coast. He threatens Guillermo by saying he will reveal that he is stealing and skimming against the Cartel.
Elsewhere, Margot tries to betray and sell Richard out for immunity, but Richard is the one who manipulates her. Richard fools the authorities and drives away.
About The Mosquito Coast
The Mosquito Coast is an American drama television series developed by Neil Cross and Tom Bissell based on the novel of the same name by Paul Theroux published in 1981.
It is also loosely adapted from the 1986 film which starred Harrison Ford. The series stars Justin Theroux, nephew of Paul, and Melissa George in lead roles, with Logan Polish and Gabriel Bateman rounding out the main cast. Justin Theroux also serves as executive producer, along with Rupert Wyatt, who directed the first two episodes.
The first season consists of seven episodes, premiered on Apple TV+ on April 30, 2021, and concluded on June 4, 2021. In June 2021, the series was renewed for a second season consisting of ten episodes. The second season premiered on November 4, 2022.
