The Morning Show season 3 finale wraps up everything well, although it leaves fans anxious for the next season. The episode addresses the changes in the UBA leadership, the Paul Marks deal, and the future of several characters.
The ending of season 3 left the fate of several characters unresolved. In the end, Laura leaves Bradley after screaming at her about the January 6 cover-up. Bradley is also left without a job and an uncertain future. Meanwhile, Cory gets thrown out of UBA after being accused of grooming Bradley.
Lastly, Paul Marks’ deal did not go through, and the UBA merged with NBN. Alex also dumps Paul, and the UBA removes him. As of now, it’s not clear which characters will return for a fourth season.
In short, the season 3 finale addressed every single storyline introduced in season 3. It also leaves the fans asking for more as the fates of many characters are left hanging in the air.
Here’s a full breakdown of the eventful finale of The Morning Show season 3.
1. Alex Proposes UBA’s Merger with NBN
The most important storyline in the finale was about the votes cast by the shareholders, as it could change Paul’s future. In previous episodes, most of the concerned people shifted between supporting and opposing the deal.
Cory, Bradley, Stella, and Chip were against him, but they couldn’t have taken Paul down without Alex’s help. Although Alex was caught in a dilemma between supporting her new boyfriend, Paul, and her former co-anchor, Bradley, she finally decided to side with the latter.
Alex decides to go against Paul Marks and sides with Bradley as she realizes that her integrity as a journalist is at stake here. She also wanted to save UBA and realized that Paul’s ruthless nature would only bring harm to the company.
Alex teams up with Laura and the NBN President Elena Daniels to make sure Paul’s deal collapses. She proposes a merger of UBA and NBN at a price that was impossible for Paul to match. Eventually, Paul withdraws his offer out of respect for Alex.
Season 3 ends with Paul heading back to Texas. Now that he’s broken up with Alex and the deal also fell off, it does not seem like he will be a part of season 4.
2. Bradley Turns Herself In
The Morning Show season 3 finale ends with Bradley and Hal finally surrendering to the FBI. It was about time that Bradley started taking responsibility for her own actions, so this was inevitable.
Bradley is jobless at the end of the season 3 finale, as she had already resigned from the evening news position in episode 9. The show does not explain anything much about Bradley’s future, but it seems like we will see her making a living away from UBA in the next season.
3. Cory Rejects Paul’s Payout Offer
Cory’s future was also left hanging in the air by the end of season 3. Paul offers Cory a payout of $10 million, but on the condition that he signs a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
However, Cory rejects the offer as he’s willing to go to all lengths to do what he feels is right. Alex and Laura thankfully had the merger plan, so Paul’s deal did not go through. However, it does not look like there’s any place for Cory in the UBA-NBN merger.
We’ve to wait for season 4 to find out what Cory does next.
4. About The Morning Show
The Morning Show (also known as Morning Wars in Australia and Indonesia) is an American drama streaming television series starring Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carell, that premiered on Apple TV+ on November 1, 2019. The series is inspired by Brian Stelter’s book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV.
Reese Witherspoon’s Bradley Jackson and Jennifer Aniston’s Alex are a newbie and a veteran morning show host, respectively, who are thrown together after Aniston’s former on-air partner (Steve Carell) is fired following a sexual harassment scandal.
Alex (Aniston) fights to retain her job as top news anchor while sparking a rivalry with Bradley Jackson (Witherspoon), a haphazard field reporter whose series of impulsive decisions brings her into a new world of television journalism.
