Apart from revealing Gideon’s involvement with the Shadow Council and his Mandalore takeover, the latest episode of The Mandalorian also featured the first united front of the legendary warriors since forever.
The episode also explains how the Darksaber ended in Gideon’s hands, hints at a fight between him and Bo-Katan, teases Ahsoka, and potentially sets up the new upcoming Star Wars film, which will be set in the Mando era.
The episode opened with Gideon learning of Din Djarin and Bo Katan’s alliance and how the Mandalorians were heading to Mandalore. He asked for resources to set a trap for them and inquired about General Thrawn’s return.
At Nevarra, the Mandalorians prepare to go home, but tensions are high between Paz Vizsla and Axe Woves. Nevertheless, Bo Katan devises a plan for a small scouting trip to see if the land is safe for inhabitation. At Mandalore, some infighting breaks out, but soon they see Stormtroopers, and Paz takes them on while the backup arrives.
Mando is captured, Bo Katan hands Gideon the Darksaber to save her life, for she and Mando are the last hope for their race, and Paz Vizsla sacrifices himself. With that, the episode ends, setting the stage for a dynamite finale.
Ahsoka will take over explaining the Thrawn storyline, but what The Mandalorian’s latest episode has done is even greater than that. Showrunner Jon Favreau has placed Din Djarin and Bo Katan’s journey right in the path of the rising resurgence of the Empire after Palpatine’s death and the end of the Great Civil War.
The season 3 finale will explore what Gideon has planned for Djarin, whether he plans to use the warrior as bait for the rival survivors or if he will avenge his duel in season 2. After the reveal about Mandalore and how Gideon has been using the beskar for the Empire, the Mandalorians will return with a bang, and it will be an epic final episode for season 3.
We still have to wait another week for the season 3 finale but drop down your theories about the upcoming episode and season 4 in the comments below!
