Rejoice, Shojo fans! The acclaimed historical Shojo manga ‘The Rose of Versailles’ is receiving a movie adaptation by none other than studio Mappa. On 2 July 2024, the official movie account of the movie unveiled a new trailer and key visual along with the voice cast. The staff information involved with the movie production has also been announced. The movie is set to be released in Spring 2025 in Japan.
Written and illustrated by Riyoko Ikeda, The Rose Of Versailles primarily narrates the tale of Marie Antoinette, the Queen of France, and Lady Oscar, the commander of the French Royal Guard Regiment during the tumultuous period leading up to the events of France Revolution. It was serialized from 1972 until 1973 in Margaret (a Shojo Manga Magazine published by Shueisha). Later, the series was again published from 2013 to 2018.

Plot of the Upcoming Movie
The movie ‘The Rose Of Versailles is based on the original work of the same name by Riyoko Ikeda. Nothing much is disclosed about the movie’s plot apart from the characters’ backgrounds. But we can speculate the story based on the small information teased by the second PV.
