Episode 5 Recap
According to Ray, the Ice Blade Sorcerer’s true strength is Anti-Material magic, which can change any magic power into another, in Ray’s case, Ice. Ray falls unconscious, and Miss Gray is frozen to death. Ray was once taken in as a war orphan by Lydia Ainsworth, the previous Ice Blade Sorcerer.
Ray participated in the Far East War and learned Ice magic from Lydia, but he eventually developed PTSD. When Ray wakes up in the hospital, Lydia reassures him that his pals are okay. Ray explains everything since his friends know the truth. He experienced an Overheat during his most recent combat, losing control of the Engram in his head.
The ensuing Ice blast rendered Lydia paralyzed and killed enough soldiers to stop the Far East War. The only thing preventing Overheat from occurring once more is Chronos-Lock, a spell that restricts Ray’s usage of magic. His friends maintain that nothing has changed between them.
After realizing that sincere effort and self-improvement are more vital than noblesse oblige, Albert apologizes to Ray for everything. Grand Sorcerer Carol Caroline, Ray’s wartime superior who helped Lydia nurture him like an overly loving aunt, takes Miss Gray’s post, much to Ray’s great disappointment.
