3. Episode 1 Recap

The anime starts with Komura Kaede heading toward his school while thinking about his crush. His crush sits right next to him. Her name is Mei. He is deeply in love with her but hasn’t really talked to her.

One day, Mei forgets her glasses and can’t see anything. She asks Komura for help in finding the right textbook. He gets flustered as it is the first time he is having a conversation with her.

He gives her his book, and she combines her bench with his so that they both can study with his textbook. Komura can’t focus on his studies as Mei gets very close to him in order to see the book.

Mei gets close to his face to recognize who he is. This leaves Komura flustered and completely embarrassed. After school is over, Komura is still not able to recover from what happened in the class.

He sees Mei near the locker room, trying someone’s shoes. He tells her that it is his. It all happened because Mei wasn’t able to find her shoes. Komura finds it for her.

Mei thanks him for being with her all day long and helping her. She tells him that she will return the favor someday. Komura is happy to realize that he has spent his whole day with Mei.

Komura wishes Mei forgets her glasses the next day too. His wish comes true as Mei accidentally breaks her glasses. Still, she decides to play dodgeball during the practice session.

Komura tells her not to do so, the game ends with Komura getting out instantly while trying to protect Mei. During class, Mei is caught sleeping, but Komura protects her from the teacher’s scolding.

She wakes up and confuses Komura with her father and sleeps on his shoulder unknowingly. The next day, she again forgets her glasses. She gets close to Komura to look at his face and is finally able to recognize him.

However, she is trying contact lenses and hasn’t forgotten her glasses this time.

The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses or “Sukimega” (Suki na Ko ga Megane o Wasureta) is a romantic comedy manga series written and illustrated by Koume Fujichika.

It follows the spectacled girl Ai Mie and her deskmate, Kaede Komura, who is in love with her. Kaede wants Ai to notice him, and finds her adorable when she’s squiting her eyes after forgetting her glasses.

Ai has a tendency to forget her glasses and Kaede often helps her out because of it. Unknown to Ai, Kaede’s feelings keep on growing and soon he becomes the person she looks forward to seeing despite the bad eyesight.
