Ah, the Prisoner’s words of warning still linger in your mind, yet your heart tells you to intervene. Very well, Destined One. If you truly wish to assist him, you must free him from his confines and speak to him.
Only then can you understand the depths of his plight, and your aid can be of service. Without his knowledge, your efforts would be misguided and fruitless. Let my words guide your actions.
1. Completing the Prisoner’s Quest in Black Myth: Wukong
The Prisoner’s Quest is a pivotal side quest in the game Black Myth: Wukong, which involves helping the Prisoner, an NPC character, by defeating the Four Captains of the Pagoda Realm. The player must explore the Pagoda Realm and find and defeat each of the Four Captains:
- Captain Lotus-Vision
- Captain Wise-Voice
- Captain Void-Illusion
- Captain Kalpa-Wave
Upon defeating each of the Four Captains, claim their spirits and return them to the Prisoner. As a token of appreciation, he will bestow upon you the esteemed Chubai Spearhead.
1. Defeating Captain Lotus-Vision
Upon awakening in the Pagoda Realm, exit your cell and proceed forward, where you’ll encounter the Prisoner’s cell, distinguished by a purple seal. Engage with him until his dialogue is exhausted, then head towards the second floor.
- Activate the Upper Pagoda Keeper’s Shrine, turn left, and leap onto the red roof below.
- From there, drop down to confront Captain Lotus-Vision.
- Defeating this captain will unlock the purple prison cells, freeing the prisoner you seek.
- Don’t forget to absorb Captain Lotus-Vision’s spirit, as it’s essential for later.
With the cells now accessible, return to your initial cell and find a man lying nearby. Interact with the corpse to obtain the Ashen Slumber transformation and engage with the man to initiate the rest of the quest.
2. Defeating Captain Wise-Voice
The second captain, Wise-Voice, is an unmissable fight as part of the main story progression that occurs when you reach the top of the Pagoda.
- A cutscene will trigger upon entry at the Mani Wheel Keeper’s Shrine, and the battle will start.
- To defeat Wise-Voice, relentlessly target his legs and head until he collapses, exposing his weak point.
- Be cautious of his tanky health and AoE attacks.
- After defeating him, absorb his spirit to obtain The Spirit of Captain Wise-Voice.
3. Defeating Captain Void-Illusion
In the Valley of Ecstasy, progress through the main story route until you reach the Longevity Road Keeper’s Shrine.
- Note that accessing this area requires sufficient story progression to unlock the Shrine.
- Once inside, turn right, bypass enemies, and make another right.
- There, you’ll find a massive corpse that you can interact with.
- Claim The Spirit of Captain Void-Illusion without engaging in a battle.
4. Defeating Captain Kalpa-Wave
Proceeding from the Valley of Ecstasy’s Longevity Road Keeper’s Shrine, you’ll encounter the final captain, Kalpa-Wave.
- After defeating Captain Void-Illusion, continue forward through the arena.
- Stay on the right side of the path until you reach the end.
- Climb the stairs to find Captain Kalpa-Wave.
- Defeat him and claim The Spirit of Captain Kalpa-Wave
2. Prisoner’s Quest Rewards
Complete the Prisoner’s quest by returning all the Captains’ spirits to him in the Lower Pagoda, earning the Chubai Spearhead. This material, combined with additional resources, enables crafting of the Epic Chu-Bai Spear.
