Mika Abdalla to Join The Flash Season 8 as Tinya Wazzo/Phantom Girl

With the Armageddon event reaching its conclusion next week, The CW’s The Flash is adding a new metahuman to their roster for season 8.

Mika Abdalla will be joining the series in the role of Tinya Wazzo, TheWrap has reported. The character will make her debut this season when Iris starts “looking into her.”

Comic fans might remember Tinya as a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Over the years, she has had many aliases – including Phantom Girl/Apparition/Phase. However, it is not clear whether Tinya would use said aliases on the show.

A character description for Tinya was also posted, and it reads,

After years of successfully hiding in plain sight, reluctant meta-teenager Tinya Wazzo’s life is turned upside down when she becomes the subject of Iris West-Allen’s latest investigation for CC Citizen Media. Soon, Tinya is thrust into a dangerous world she never knew existed—one that will change her life forever.

Created by Jerry Siegel and Jim Mooney, Tinya first appeared in Action Comics #276 (1961). Her powers include phasing through solid objects, a trait common to the natives of her home planet of Bgztl.

Besides her introduction on The Flash, Tinya is directly linked to one of the Arrowverse heroes. In the comics, Phantom Girl became one of Supergirl’s three super-girlfriends, and the CW’s Supergirl also introduced the Legion in season 3.

The Flash will mark Phantom Girl’s first live-action appearance, but the character has previously appeared in the DCAU with shows like Justice League Unlimited, Young Justice: Phantoms, and Legion of Superheroes.

It would be interesting to see how Tinya is added to the team and if her connection with the Legion is further established as the series progresses. But for now, Barry will face Eobard Thawne and Despero in the final part of the series’ Armageddon event.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW, with Armageddon Part 5 airing this Tuesday, December 14.
