Just when we, Gintoki fans, thought our journey with the crazy samurai was over after Gintama: The Final film’s release, the film’s production team decided to surprise us.
The surprise turned out to be some new aftermath footage which solely focuses on the lives of Gintoki, and his friends after the final battle.
Warner Bros. even went the extra mile and streamed a special clip of the special footage for the fans.

As you can see this 1 minute 30 seconds clip is a mixture of scenes from the final movie as well as some never before seen footage from their lives after the whole battle subsides.
To add to this excitement, Gintama: The Final Special Part 2 will also be streamed for the fans on February 19th at 9 P.M. JST.
The special video will feature Gintoki and Shinpachi’s voice actors and they both will hold a Question and Answer round. Part 2 might also feature some more behind the scenes footage from the final movie.
Part 1 has already had quite the impact on fans after Gintoki’s actual age was revealed in the special stream session. So, I wonder what’s more to come for this much anticipated Part 2.
As we know, Gintama: The Final movie has made some impressive achievements, days after its January 8th release. But that’s not all that’s in store for us.
While the final movie focused on the original manga’s last battle arc, a new two-part anime series is currently airing on dTV with Part 2 released on January 20th. This anime special is a prequel to Gintoki’s last battle arc and focuses on him and his crew’s shenanigans when they run into the Shinsengumi.
I just can’t wait to see what this special stream is all about!
About Gintama
The story is set in an alternate-history late-Edo period, where humanity is attacked by aliens called ‘Amanto.’ Edo Japan’s samurai fight to defend Earth, but the shōgun cowardly surrenders when he realizes the aliens’ power.
He agrees to an unequal contract with the aliens, placing a ban on carrying swords in public and allowing the invaders to enter the country.
The samurai’s swords are confiscated, and the Tokugawa bakufu becomes a puppet government.
The series focuses on an eccentric samurai, Gintoki Sakata, who works as an odd-jobs freelancer. Although the story is mostly episodic, a few story arcs and recurring antagonists develop.
