Episode 9 of The Faraway Paladin starts with Will and his entourage entering Whitesails, a city brimming with life.
Will wants to worship at the city temple, but Bishop Bagley doesn’t trust Will at first since Gracefeel’s worshippers are in the minority. He asks Will about the teachings of Goddess Gracefeel, and he passes the test.
A wyvern attacks the city, and Will uses his magic to bind it. When that doesn’t work, Will puts the wyvern in a headlock and chokes it to death, surprising the citizens. Maybe he’ll arm wrestle the next beast he encounters.
Episode 10 Speculations
It was Will’s first time enjoying roaming around in the big city, but a wyvern had to come and ruin everything. He has to fight it, or people will die. There is no peace in the land of the living, is there?
Another peculiar part of the episode was Will choke slamming a wyvern to death. Can that happen? How is this legal? That divine bread must have been really special.
We have seen very little of the king, so we don’t know how he will react to Will’s request of sending soldiers to protect the villagers.

Episode 9 Recap
The group of four enter the city of Whitesails. The place is bustling with people going to and fro, ships bringing in goods and lots of business exchanges. Will is glad to see the people live so well since Gus, Mary, and Blood died to protect the city.
They go to a bathhouse called Balnea, after which they grab a meal at the local pub. Will visits the temple in Whitesails to offer his prayers. It looks enormous, Menel comments something along the lines of “that’s where the tax money goes.”
Will asks for a high-ranking bishop, informing him that he’s a cleric of Goddess Gracefeel. The bishops who carry out the procedure of “prayer of detect faith” seem to be out. Bishop Bagley distrusts Will since there aren’t many who worship Gracefeel.
After Will recites the teachings of Gracefeel, Bishop Bagley permits him to worship and even offers him a place to stay at the temple.
Suddenly, a wyvern attacks the city, and Will slays it, along with some help from Menel. The King of Southmark, Ethelbald, sends for the wyvern slayer who has wowed his subjects.
Ethelbald thanks him, and when asked about rewards, he asks Ethelbald to send soldiers to the southern village where he fought those demonic beasts. Ethelbald says that will be difficult to do.
