A more comic-accurate Baron Zemo is coming the fans’ way in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier! Topps’ Marvel Collect! app has released a new collection of digital cards that feature two characters from the upcoming Disney+ miniseries in their full costume. While the fans have already been introduced to a miniboss-level Zemo before, the other character is a new one, set to appear for the first time in the MCU.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will see Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes trying to protect Steve Rogers’ Captain America legacy while on a global mission to fight an anarchist group.
Fans will remember Zemo (Daniel Brühl) from Captain America: Civil War as the man who played Captain America against Iron Man on the Sokovia Accords. Since his role in the movie is more like a behind-the-scenes puppet master, Zemo did not have the chance to debut as a full-fledged villain from the comics. Ever since it was announced that Brühl was reprising his role in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, many were expecting an extended role in the show.
Although there was a glimpse of Zemo’s face in the trailer, it has now been revealed that his villainous purple mask and suit from the comics are debuting on the Disney+ miniseries. The costume will also have the familiar purple gloves and the fur coat, but whether he will get his weapon of choice from the comics—a sword—remains to be seen.
Topps has also revealed the costume of John. F. Walker (Wyatt Russell), who will be introduced in the show. In the comics, he is a patriot who later becomes the hero US Agent.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will premiere on Disney+ on March 19, 2021, a few days after the WandaVision finale.
Do you think Zemo’s costume is similar to the one in the comics?
