The attack is racially targeted against East Asians and the episode deals with the theme of Anti-Asian hate that is rampant in the United States. The police rule the death an accident and don’t investigate the matter further. However, Robyn and her team immediately pick up on this being a racially targeted attack, especially after Chloe tells them that Ms. Li had been targeted for a while and needed to be escorted home at night.

The Equalizer Season 2 Episode 11 Recap
A young east Asian woman reaches out to Robyn after a member of her community was murdered. Chloe suspected that this was a targeted attack because the woman’s bakery was being targeted by racists, and the one night Chloe didn’t escort the owner back home she was killed. The police didn’t look into it because the cause of death was ruled an accidental electric fire.
Upon investigation, Robyn and the team, too, suspect this to be a racially targeted murder. Harry tracks down the foul Yelp reviews and traced them back to a rival bakery. He found that the reviews were written by the rival bakery owner’s nephew. However, he had an alibi for the night of the murder. Meanwhile, another Asian store is attacked.
It turns out the witness in the murder case was actually a distraction for the murderers to commit the crime. Frank had known the murderers all along. Ray risks his own life and walks into the electric store owned by them and gets them to confess to the murder on tape. Thanks to the confession they are able to bring the murderers to justice.
