After months of non-stop hard work, the members of Shadow Garden finally get a break. Initially, they take this chance of going to the hot springs as a mission. But soon, Alpha realizes it might just be Shadow sending them on vacation.
The girls have a day full of fun, unlike most of their other days. But between all this fun and games, they discover the secret of the hot spring. Its reaction to tears helps them find a way to awaken the dragon’s soul. After it’s awakened, Alpha quickly takes care of it and helps it rest in peace.

No, Season 2 of “The Eminence in Shadow” is not on a break this week. Episode 9 is not delayed and will be released on the above-stated date.
2. Episode 9 Speculation
Episode 9 will be the dawn of a new adventure now that the break is over. Shadow hasn’t returned to Shadow Garden yet, so there’s only so much we can predict about his next move. Will he continue living as his John Smith persona, or will Cid return as Shadow again?
It’s hard to predict exactly what will happen, but it’ll either be more about John Smith or more about Shadow Garden. We haven’t seen anything about Rose or Alexia since the beginning of season 2, so they might appear now. The chances of seeing Rose are particularly high since she was present on the key visual for season 2.
3. Recap of Episode 8
The episode was set to a rather light mood compared to the recent episodes. It was practically a fanservice episode and a day of fun relaxation for the Shadow Garden members.
The episode kicks off with Cid’s friends visiting his room. They don’t find him there but get their hands on the VIP tickets for the Mitsugoshi hot spring resort’s opening ceremony. They decide to take the tickets to score a date with the girls.
When they were causing a ruckus outside Mitsugoshi company’s building, they were captured by Nu, who then questioned them about how they got these tickets. Upon hearing they got it from Cid, Nu assumes it is one of his plans. She goes on to discuss this with the seven swords.
After discussion, the seven shadows conclude that it is indeed Shadow’s plan, and he wants them to conduct an investigation on the myth of the ‘Dragon’s Tears’. Shortly after, a fight breaks out between them to decide who’s going to go on this ‘Hot Spring Date’ with them.
What they did not know was that Shadow himself never planned any of this and was never supposed to show up in the hot spring. Now Beta, Delta, and Zeta are stuck with his friends instead. Even though those three were chosen through rock, paper, and scissors, the other shadows were present there too.
While the girls were playing games and having fun they discovered that the spring’s water reacts to tears. Eta then proceeds to make Beta cry through some of her methods since Beta calls herself an elven princess. Almost instantly, the water reacts to her tears and takes the shape of a dragon.
Gamma orders the Mitsugoshi employees to escort the guests to safety as the Seven Swords prepare to deal with the problem. Given their strength, it doesn’t take long before Alpha delivers the final blow and calms the dragon’s soul. After the dragon’s soul is released, its magic powers get imbued in the hot spring, giving it special traits.

The Eminence in Shadow, a manga by Daisuke Aizawa, started serialization in 2018. It is scheduled to receive an anime in October 2022. An anime film, titled ‘The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes,’ was announced in December 2023.
Cid, the protagonist, is obsessed with becoming a hidden mastermind. Being reincarnated in an isekai world gives him the chance to act on his wishes and build up his power beyond the notice of people.
After rescuing an elf, he forms a squad who are supposed to fight the Diabolos cult which is just a figment of his imagination. However, the cult turns out to be true and now he actually has an enemy to face.
