We have no way of knowing the answers to so many questions other than waiting for the next season, but curious fans might be in luck. With the ending of this season, the news of a movie in this franchise has been released on the official Twitter account.

The key visual for the movie features the sight of a grave with a ravaged city in the background. So, the story of post-apocalyptic Japan may continue in the movie. Rather than being a non-canon movie just for entertainment, this might be canon and a follow-up of the second season.

3. Recap of Episode 12

The messenger of disaster is summoned in the form of a beast named “Archfiend Ragnarok” by Mordred. Within moments of its arrival, Shadow severs one of its arms from the main body. Mordred is surprised to see such strength. He asks Shadow who he is, and as Shadow introduces himself, we see the other Shadow garden members coming out of disguise.

Shadow immediately goes after the beast without paying any attention to Mordred. The knight of the round calls Shadow a fool and says he has overestimated his own power. Epsilon and Beta draw Mordred’s attention, saying while their master fights the beast, Mordred will be in their care as they need the answers to many questions.

Mordred draws his blade and launches an invisible sword attack, which surprises Epsilon, but she can identify the Sword artifact he is using. Mordred attacks again, but Epsilon counters it with ease. During all this chaos after getting Shadow’s approval, Rose runs out to save the capital from the beasts summoned along with Ragnarok.

She meets Margaret in the castle’s garden and tells her to open the cellar in the castle and escort everyone she sees there. Margaret, who misunderstood and hated Rose all this time, finally acknowledges her as the new queen after knowing the truth. Leaving Margaret behind, Rose meets some shadow garden members near the entrance and orders the knights to leave the security of the capital to them.

After she’s done escorting the civilians, she plans to join Beta and Epsilon against Mordred, but suddenly, an injured Mordred comes flying through the entrance. Even after being severely injured, he doesn’t give up since he believes Ragnarok can help him win the battle. Seeing his despair, Beta tricks him into spilling the information they need.

A huge revelation is uncovered as he tells them that multiple worlds are orbiting a certain “Center”. Even though it is unknown what is there in the “Center”, the biggest problem right now is the other worlds since they are destined to clash with one another. Magic didn’t originally exist in this world and was brought here when a world with magic clashed with this one.

The “Black Rose” is simply a gateway connecting two worlds. Just when he finishes speaking, an arm of the Ragnarok falls near Mordred, and as he looks up in the sky, he sees the beast getting defeated by shadow. In a last attempt to survive, he eats the monster’s flesh and gains similar powers. But the power difference between him and Shadow is just too huge, which causes him to get annihilated by Shadow’s signature move.

Shadow comes down from the sky, and as everyone thought the battle was over and everything was back to normal, a black hole appears behind Shadow, sucking him in. Everyone watches Shadow disappearing in thin air, but they cannot do anything. The scenery suddenly changes to a ruined city, and the tall buildings quickly give away its identity. It was Earth, Cid Kagenou, or better to say, Minoru Kageno’s home world.

The world looks nothing like when Cid was transported to the other world. We see Akane Nishino, Cid’s classmate from the previous life, leading a group as she leaves to hunt “something” at night. She gets captured by some bandits while walking on the empty streets, the same bandits that kidnapped her in season one. The last episode of this season ends just the same way the first episode of the first season ended, with Cid saving Akane from bandits.
