Cid is glad upon getting defeated by a named character like Rose Oriana, who, in turn, comes to respect Cid. The Gaunt Knight creates a barrier preventing the people inside the academy from using magic. Cid is injured while saving Rose.

Cid saved Rose from the attack, but he was severely injured. No one can use their magic inside Midgar Academy because of the barrier. I hope the members of Shadow Garden come to their rescue in time.

We are introduced to Rex, the Game of Betrayal, a First Child present in the Royal Capital. The Cult of Diabolos has started sending Named Children, which means they might be planning something massive. The next episode might be much more detailed.

Recap of Episode 7
While Cid reads about Bushin Festival Student Preliminates, he realizes Nu’s presence behind him. He asks if she goes to the same academy. Nu answers that she borrowed the uniform not to stand out.
Nu informs Cid that the man they had apprehended the previous day had been brainwashed, which is the work of the Cult of Diabolos.
Skel and Po get punched by Cid when they ask him to fight in the tournament during Bushin Festival to attract girls. As Cid thinks about the tournament, Nu informs him about the presence of the Named First Child, Rex, in the Royal Capital.
As Cid talks about the tournament, Nu misunderstands his words, thinking he is planning on matters involving the Cult of Diabolos.
During the tournament, Cid’s opponent is the Student Council President, Rose Oriana, the best swordsman in the academy. Cid is glad he can finally show off the forty-eight master techniques he has gained till now.
As they fight, Cid uses his techniques to get defeated by Rose multiple times. Rose respects him, thinking he is a determined person who does not easily give up.
Cid is approached by Sherry, who asks him if it is okay for them to start by being friends. When Cid agrees, Sherry is so happy that she tells her father, who is sitting nearby.
Cid realizes that her father is the Assistant Principal of Midgar Academy. He blames himself for being careless in being acquainted with the people from the science faculty. Sherry is bothered about Cid and Alexia’s relationship.
Sherry asks Alexia if she is still dating Cid. Alexia responds her saying they were pretending to be a couple and have broken up. Sherry is glad to learn that, but Alexia does not take the situation well. Rose comes to Cid’s class to explain the filling of the vacancy on the Student Council.
The Gaunt Knight creates a barrier covering the academy that prevents the use of magic. Cid notices that he is not able to use his magic. Then people intrude on the academy claiming to be Shadow Garden.
Rose tries to fight them, but she cannot use the magic. As they are about to attack Rose, Cid saves her, but he gets severe injuries.

The Eminence in Shadow, a manga by Daisuke Aizawa, started serialization in 2018. It is scheduled to receive an anime in October 2022. An anime film, titled ‘The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes,’ was announced in December 2023.
Cid, the protagonist, is obsessed with becoming a hidden mastermind. Being reincarnated in an isekai world gives him the chance to act on his wishes and build up his power beyond the notice of people.
After rescuing an elf, he forms a squad who are supposed to fight the Diabolos cult which is just a figment of his imagination. However, the cult turns out to be true and now he actually has an enemy to face.
