Shadow finally makes his move and wraps up the fight quickly in episode 9 of The Eminence in Shadow, titled “The End of Falsehood”
This action-packed episode finally concludes the arc and the moment we’ve all been waiting for, Shadow’s grand entrance and complete annihilation of the imposters. We see the dire situation of the hostages and the success of Sherry completing the tool they need to defuse the Eye of Avarice.
She is successful in doing so, and everyone’s powers have been regained, immediately breaking out into a chaotic fight. However, Cid interferes, and everything is cleaned up in a quick fashion.
After a completely expected plot twist with the main villain’s identity, Sherry goes through even more traumatic experiences in her character development. She’ll definitely be going through her villain arc now.

Episode 10 Speculation
Things will slow down in the next episode as the major fight has come to an end, with an ominous parting of ways with Sherry. It’s likely that Sherry will have some revenge origin story after her experiences in this episode, and her hatred for Shadow Garden will definitely have reached its peak.
From the PV, we can also expect the next episode to be a fanservice-y treat to the viewers, mainly with Beta, Delta, and even Epsilon, maybe? Things get spicy between Iris and Alexia, and we see a mysterious exchange between Beta and someone else.

Recap of Episode 9
Tensions rise as time goes on, with the academy unable to use their magic powers, with all their specialists held captive inside the academy. However, Sherry has finally managed to take control of the Eye of Avarice and bring back their powers.
We see a glimpse of Sherry’s traumatic past as her mom gets murdered right in front of her. Cid tells her to go save everyone, and they part ways. There are multiple gunshots as the terrorists have fun randomly attacking the hostages for amusement.
Sherry spots her opportunity to attack and throws the artifact at the Eye of Avarice. It shines in eminent light and defuses the anti-magic field. The auditorium breaks out in chaos as they fight for their lives.
Right when the battle seems lost, we finally see the grand entrance of Cid and the Shadow Garden as they drop from the ceiling. The whole place bursts into flames, and the imposters’ leader, Asst. Principal Lutheran Barnett, Sherry’s father, is name-dropped by Cid as he surprises him with his deductive skills.
Lutheran explains why he did what he did to cure his disease, but he was prevented from using the artifact by Sherry’s mother, who even suggested handing it over to the government. He also confesses to killing her right in front of Sherry.
After all that talking, they finally get ready to fight, with both of them confident in their victory. Initially complacent, he is quickly humbled and realizes the disadvantage he faces. But Lutheran does not give up as he uses his trump card immediately, and combines the Eye of Avarice with the control unit and transforms to his prime form and attacks.
Shadow does not break a sweat as he takes out not only Lutheran, but also the philosophies he stands by, and kills him just like he killed Sherry’s mother. Tragically, however, Sherry witnesses his death as well, with no context or knowledge of her father’s actions;
This will be a horribly traumatic memory yet again. She decides to move to Laugus to pursue her academic goals as well as “something she has to do”, a secret.

The Eminence in Shadow, a manga by Daisuke Aizawa, started serialization in 2018. It is scheduled to receive an anime in October 2022. An anime film, titled ‘The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes,’ was announced in December 2023.
