Next, she brought him a musical book by McFarlane, which was said to cure any curse if played well. As it turned out, the only curse meant to be lifted was of McFarlane.
The following day, Duke unintentionally broke a flower pot that Rob had been working on for 50 years. Instead of getting angry, Rob was relieved to find the jewelry of Duke’s grandmother in the pot. He returned the jewelry to Duke.
In yet another attempt to break the curse, Duke and Alice went through the old books and library when a fairy appeared and promised to grant them a wish if they would bring the rabbit to her.
The lovebirds fell asleep and woke up in their dreams. Instead of catching the rabbit, they decided to spend time with each other and even locked lips in the end.

Episode 8 Preview & Speculation
While continuing the search for ways to cure Duke’s curse, Duke learnt a secret about a maid stealing his grandmother’s jewelry decades ago.
Although nothing more was revealed, the maid was shown to have blonde hair, which makes me wonder if she was Alice’s mother.
It makes sense because Alice turned angry when Delath mentioned her mother’s name at the town festival. Moreover, Alice disappeared from the mansion for three years and returned only when her mother stepped down.
Earlier in the episode, Alice was able to see McFarlane’s ghost when it was meant to be seen by only the one playing his music. This further indicates that Alice might be related to witches somehow through her mother.
Nevertheless, the next episode is going to be amazing, and we look forward to the answers to our questions.

Episode 8 of the The Duke of Death and His Maid (2021) anime, titled “White Snow, Black Clothes”, has been released on Sunday, Aug 22, 2021.
Since this anime runs on a weekly schedule, new episode releases are seven days apart.

Episode 7 Recap
Alice buys a magic pot to try out a recipe she read in a book about witches. Alice believes it will help Duke get rid of the curse, but when Duke drinks the potion and touches a flower, it dies as usual.
Alice gives a music book to Duke, which is said to cure any curse if played well. As Duke plays the piano, the ghost of McFarlane appears and distracts Duke.
Duke somehow doesn’t get bothered by him and plays well. When he finishes the song, he realizes that the only curse lifted was of McFarlane’s, who disappeared after hearing his music played perfectly.
The following day, Duke startles Alice, so Alice also decides to scare him. She puts back a creepy painting on the wall that Duke removed the previous day.
Duke gets scared, thinking the painting is haunted, and accidentally breaks a flower pot that Rob has been cultivating for 50 years. He spends the rest of the day hiding from Rob, as he is scared that Rob will scold him.
When Rob finally meets Duke after a long day, he shows him the jewelry that belonged to Duke’s grandmother. Rob believes that it was stolen by a maid decades ago, and the maid hid them in the flower pot.
In the post-credit scene, Duke and Alice go to the library and look through old books, trying to find some way to break the curse. The second they open one of the books, a fairy appears and asks them to bring the rabbit that carries a pocket watch.
The fairy promises to grant them one wish if they successfully bring the rabbit to her. Duke and Alice fall asleep and wake up in a grassland where they see the rabbit carrying a pocket watch, hopping here and there.
Instead of focusing on catching the rabbit, the duo decides to spend the time together, as they can finally touch each other in the dream. The fairy gets upset and disappears after waking them up.
About The Duke of Death and His Maid
The Duke of Death and His Maid is a 2017 supernatural manga by Koharu Inoue. The manga was serialized on Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry website and finished its run in May 2022.
The story revolves around a young duke named Bocchan who was cursed by a witch in his childhood. His curse can kill anything he touches, making him completely isolated from his loved ones to save their lives. He lives in a mansion on his own but is accompanied by his maid and butler.
He has quite the relationship with his maid Alice and the two grow closer throughout the story.
