The Division 2’s Upcoming Event Has Been Canceled!

Massive Entertainment, the developers of The Division 2, have canceled its highly anticipated in-game event, Codename: Nightmare, due to consistent delays and problems caused by COVID-19.

Many will remember how back in September of this year, the studio released the Season 3/Season 4 roadmap, highlighting a ton of exciting stuff that would eventually arrive in the game.

The stuff I’m talking about included a new PvE mode, the return of the acting commander Faye Lau, a LOT of new weapons and gear, and the Codename: Nightmare, which was supposed to arrive in Winters.

Massive’s Associate Creative Director Yannick Banchereau stated the disappointing news during a recent Livestream, saying that “It’s been a tough year for everyone; it’s been a tough year for us as well, and one of the consequences of that is we have had to make changes in our plan.”

However, please take note that the event has not been canceled in its entirety but has shifted its focus from being an in-game event to something like Santa’s sack, full of other goodies and apparels for players to grab!

The slightly morphed Codename: Nightmare will release on February 2, 2021. One good news that comes for a few of you is that this update will also unlock the game’s framerates for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, which will allow players to play at 4k graphics at 60 frames per second.

While this update is still a little far away, the game’s Season 4 just launched yesterday, bringing with it a lot of new content in the form of a new seasonal outfit/gear set, a new skill for the Pulse tool, and some improvements to the game mode “The Summit.”

Anyhow, there’s a very high chance these updates will see the player base of The Division 2 increase by a considerable margin. So, a win-win situation, I’d say.

That said, if you’re someone that may have missed out The Division in the last couple of months, now is probably the best time to get back into it!
