A new foe appears in episode 2 of The Devil is a Part-Timer!! Season 3 titled “The Devil and the Hero Question Their Daily Routine.”

While Sadao continues progressing through the ranks, he even takes on an additional barista training course to try and get as good as Kisaki. Chi along with her training to defend herself, also joins the course to enhance her skills.

Meanwhile, Emi is having a breakdown over her loss of purpose. Neither a hero without hatred or demon lord to fight, she projects her anger onto Sadao, who puts on the show of the Demon Lord Satan once more. However, a proper foe appears to let her vent her emotions appropriately.

Sadao has the magic ball of power that the Devil had given him, but it is unlikely to do anything that he said. He likely misunderstood Satan’s change in mindset as just some loss in power, but it is just his character growth.

He was now forced to retreat since everybody else showed up, and just the sight of Emi scared him out of his wits. Although he announced his return, it is unlikely that he will try to fight Emi again.

3. Recap of Episode 2

Sadao talks with Chi, telling her to lower her volume for customers, lest they get intimidated. Kisaki comes in after their work hours, and Sadao decides to ask her how she makes her coffee so well, and she suggests the Barista training course.

After he gets home, he finds that Chi and Emi are having a girl’s sleepover and training in the extra time. While relaxing after a day of work, Sadao starts thinking about how much things have changed for the Devil and the Hero over the years.

Until now, Emi had been on a vengeance spree after her father died, but now she realizes he isn’t even dead, her sense of purpose is lost. Chi informs them that they can’t rely on Sariel anymore since Kisaki banned her.

Kisaki talks to Chi about their anxiety and decides that the best cure is to focus on their work at MgRonald’s instead. She also chooses to enroll in the barista course and walks home together with Sadao when they run into Emi and her friend.

Emi immediately starts picking a fight with Sadao, who notices that she’s been hiding her tears this entire time. He knows that plenty of demons are waiting for him and suggests going back with Camio and starting another world-domination plan, hinting that Emi should stop him again.

All this does is spark another outburst from Emi, who starts questioning his determination to take over the world. However, Sadao is plenty prepared for all of her questions since he’s Satan. But none of it works on Emi.

Sadao teleports away from the spot due to a new devil’s ability, who introduces himself as Farfarello, one of the leaders of the Malebranche. He gets on his knees and asks Sadao to join their expansion plan after they take control of Ente Isla.

Emi breaks in through the barrier in the middle of their conversation and wields her sword as the Hero of this realm. The demon starts running and commands his doll Erone to help, but Emi matches all his attacks until they’re forced to retreat.

The Devil Is a Part-Timer! is a Japanese light novel series written by Satoshi Wagahara, with illustrations by Oniku (written as 029). ASCII Media Works has published the series in Japan, while Yen Press has published the series in North America.

The story revolves around the Demon Lord Satan after he is stuck in the human world. Satan loses against the hero Emilia in his homeworld Ente Isla. He then takes one of his subordinates – Alciel and transports himself to the human world, where he is left powerless due to the lack of magic.

Both Satan and Alciel take human forms, and Satan takes up a part-time job at a fast-food restaurant to earn a living. Things get even more complicated once Emilia arrives under the guise of a human named Emi Yusa. This light-hearted comedy explores the interactions of “evil” and “good.”
