Chi-chan undergoes a secret training session in episode 1 of The Devil is a Part-Timer!! Season 3, titled “The Devil Returns to the Workplace.”

Sadao gets a promotion in MgRonalds, steadily working up the ranks and climbing the corporate ladder. Finding himself in a new fancy branch, he cannot stop bragging about all the latest facilities and areas he controls.

However, the girls are not interested and seem to be having secret meetings more often than not. Sadao and Ashiya attempt to tail them and find out the secret, but what they find is entirely unexpected.

Chi continues to train for the next emergency if it ever arises, and she will rise in power, especially because the great hero Emilia is her mentor. However, there is not much time before the next attack, as Sadao is already under sight.

A new villain is revealed in the last few seconds of the episode, and he seems to be dressed like an ordinary salaryman but is hiding a greater strength. He will likely make his move in the next episode, at Sadao’s new workplace in disguise.

3. Recap of Episode 1

Sadao gets promoted to a new branch of MgRonalds filled with new rooms and an extremely fancy outlet. They even have a MgCafe outlet which impresses him so much that he continues blabbering about it at home but is interrupted by Alas Ramus’s babysitting time.

While he’s distracted by Alas Ramus, the girls are having yet another girl talk, which tip off Alciel. He has always been the more perceptive of the three and eavesdrops on the conversation and picks up interesting keywords concerning a blood bath.

While he tails the girls after they leave, they turn a corner and give him the slip. The investigation proves useless, and Alciel has his outburst once Emilia returns since he’s frustrated that he couldn’t find any evidence. Sadao tries to take things on himself and tries to set up a talk with Chi-chan, but it proves futile.

The girls have yet another secret conversation the following day, but the boys hatch another plan. Urushihara reveals the tracker he installed in Nagano and finds that the girls stopped in the nearby bathhouse, where they even put up a barrier to stop Sadao and Ashiya.

In their mail, they find a DVD clip requesting help from Amane’s aunt to weed the back garden. Everybody contributes together to weed the garden in the blazing sun the next day. Sadao perfectly uses this opportunity where all of them are sweaty to go to the bathhouse together with the girls, a perfect chance to find what they’re hiding.

After entering the bathhouse, they spy on the girls as they announce the start of their training session. Emilia guides Chi-chan through waterfall training and into all the different types of baths, each more grueling than the previous. The final phase of their training was shouting out to manifest her celestial energy, and this prompted Sadao to run and find out what was going on.

Emi finally explains that Chi had requested training specifically to call out in an emergency since she didn’t want to feel powerless again in case of an attack. Her determination makes Sadao feel embarrassed for assuming the worst, and he is astonished by her strength to take on this training.

The Devil Is a Part-Timer! is a Japanese light novel series written by Satoshi Wagahara, with illustrations by Oniku (written as 029). ASCII Media Works has published the series in Japan, while Yen Press has published the series in North America.

The story revolves around the Demon Lord Satan after he is stuck in the human world. Satan loses against the hero Emilia in his homeworld Ente Isla. He then takes one of his subordinates – Alciel and transports himself to the human world, where he is left powerless due to the lack of magic.

Both Satan and Alciel take human forms, and Satan takes up a part-time job at a fast-food restaurant to earn a living. Things get even more complicated once Emilia arrives under the guise of a human named Emi Yusa. This light-hearted comedy explores the interactions of “evil” and “good.”
