So far, we saw one of Kimi’s more significant memories with Siesta. They had been entrusted with finding the Cerberus who is gorging people’s hearts out. Hel showed herself and put forth an offer to make Kimi her partner.

Kimi watched over Alicia while she recovered from her amnesia. Alicia stepped in as a substitute detective since Siesta was feeling unwell. Alicia took up the case of searching for the Eye of Sapphire.

The Detective Is Already Dead episode 8 is titled “With That, We Set out on a Journey Once Again.”

Now that they have realized they were being misguided by the Fuubi’s duplicate, Siesta and Kimi are one step closer to solving the case. 

I’m sure our dynamic duo will not be duped twice. Siesta being the genius that she is, has already got a plan in motion that keeps her three steps ahead of the enemy. 

I also do hope that they soon show us how and why Siesta died. It would be even better if they show Siesta and Kimi confessing feelings for each other.

Recap of Episode 7

Episode 7, titled “In Time, You Will Recall this Day,” starts off with Alicia stepping in as substitute detective while Siesta takes a rest. 

Alicia goes out of her way to look the part of a detective, making her stand out. She is also adamant about searching for the Eye of Sapphire. 

Alicia, who is suffering from amnesia, is running around having fun. Watching her be so carefree brings a smile to Kimi’s face.

Eventually, Kimi is tired of her running around and asks her to stop gallivanting carelessly. She listens to him but, in turn, asks him to stop treating her like a child.

Alicia keeps going to expensive jewelry shops and claims that particular jewels showcased there are the Eye of Sapphire. 

They go around looking for it throughout the day, but it is all for naught. They come back to the inn, where they celebrate Siesta’s complete recovery.

Alicia points out that Kimi and Siesta are acting like a couple. She comes to this conclusion because Kimi lets Siesta decide everything for him and Siesta listens to Kimi without questioning him. 

Alicia leaves the restaurant, adamant about waking up the following day and succeeding in finding the Eye of Sapphire. 

While she is away, Kimi and Siesta have fun on their own. Siesta forces Kimi to drink, and later, both of them talk nonsense in the room. 

The following day, Alicia comes to their room and gives Kimi an eyepatch so his injury could heal and claims his eye to be the jewel. Siesta and Kimi are both very impressed by her.

The episode ends with Kimi and Siesta realizing that the Fuubi they encountered recently was a fake, and the original one never spoke to them.

Written by Nigojū and Umibōzu, The Detective Is Already Dead (Tantei wa Mō, Shindeiru) is a light novel series that follows Kimihiko Kimizuka, a third-year high school student and former assistant of a detective named Siesta.

He made Siesta’s acquaintance three years ago, 10,000 meters above the ground in a hijacked plane. The two went on one death-defying adventure after another for three years that eventually ended with Siesta’s untimely death.

In the present day, Kimihiko tries his best to reintegrate himself back into normal life.
