In Grimoire of Zero, the prejudice against witches led to conflict and unrest in society. The Dawn of the Witch shows contempt against witches, but not as extreme as its predecessor series.

The Dawn of the Witch will receive an anime adaptation in April 2022. A tweet by the official Twitter account of the Mangapoke app confirmed the anime’s debut date.

Although no other information like studio name, staff, or cast has been announced yet, details will come flooding in once this year rolls past.

The Dawn of the Witch might be based in the same world as Grimoire of Zero, but it has an entirely different set of characters. Unlike Grimoire of Zero’s protagonist, who is a mercenary, the new anime’s MC, Savil, is a hopeless student who is sent to another kingdom to train and pass his classes.

This change of plans seems really refreshing to me. Add in the memory loss issue of Savil, and the anime might turn out to be a surprising hit.

If you have read either the light novel or the manga version of The Dawn of the Witch, then you must be aware of the generous fanservice in the series. Will the anime be able to maintain the same amount of fanservice?

Trailers and visuals for the upcoming anime will be revealed soon, and you can judge for yourself whether the series stays faithful to its original flavor or not.

About The Dawn of the Witch

Mahoutsukai Reimeiki a.k.a. The Dawn of the Witch light novel series is written by Kakeru Kobashiri and will receive a television anime adaptation.

Kodansha published the first volume of the fantasy light novel with illustrations by Takashi Iwasaki under its Ranobe Bunko imprint in August 2018.

The war that raged between the Church and the Witches for five centuries finally ended in peace but a few short years ago.

Saybil is a magic student with no memories of his life before he met a mysterious silver-haired woman in an alley.

Now he travels with his teacher, Loux—another student, Holt, and the beast fallen Kudo for “special training”… but this field trip may not be as routine as it seems!
