This Is Why Elden Ring: The Convergence Mod Is as Good as any DLC

After breaking their backs for many hours, most players are already done with the horrors that Elden Ring had to throw their way in the form of exploration possibilities, secrets, and gruesome boss fights.

While one does not need an excuse to keep coming back to the Lands Between, the demand for a DLC of this highly successful Soulsborne game is widespread. Fans are wanting more content to conquer, but much to their dismay, FromSoftware is yet to confirm its plans for post-launch content.

In the midst of this uncertainty, a group of three modders took the matter into their own hands and are working towards providing Elden Ring with an unofficial expansion through the Convergence mod.

The Convergence mod could be the most extensive mod that Elden Ring has ever seen. It’s being developed by the same creators that made the popular Dark Souls 3: Convergence mod which overhauled the game by adding new character classes, NPCs, bosses, over 100 new spells, new rings, armaments, and factions.

While we don’t know when the mod will release or what it will entail, modders have confirmed thatits development has begun. If the previous work of The Convergence team is anything to go by, we are going to see a wealth of new content finding its way to Elden Ring.

Here are a few additions that the gigantic mod can make to the highly successful Souls title:

New Quests

It’s common knowledge by now that Elden Ring had compelling content cut from its story prior to launch. Therefore, there is a chance that The Convergence mod could restore some of these removed quests besides adding new missions altogether to the game.

New Armaments

The Convergence mod for Dark Souls 3 brought along a plethora of new weapons, armor sets, and spells. It is likely that Elden Ring will get the same treatment as well.

Elden Ring already boasts a wide array of weapons, but with the arrival of the upcoming mod, it can have even more armaments that lead to high replayability, as players would want to give every plausible playstyle a shot.

New Foes and NPCs

Dark Souls 3 saw a slew of new characters and bosses being introduced when The Convergence mod rolled out. The mod also prised models and designs that other FromSoftware games sported and added them to the 2016 released action RPG.

It’s likely that the mod will follow the same trail with Elden Ring as well, although the creators will have to find the best way of adding new enemies as recklessly doing so can destroy the balanced flavor of the game.

Access to New Areas

There’s a chance that the upcoming mod can finally make the blocked locations of Elden Ring to make the Lands Between more explorable than before. Who knows, maybe The Convergence will let us enter the Erdtree to discover many secrets encompassing The Greater Will as well?
