Human perception is sometimes so bizarre and so strong that the world around them starts to warp under its weight. It is this surreal nature of the human mind that is the center of Paranoia Agent.
Paranoia Agent tells the tale of a city under a string of similar attacks forming a sort of mass hysteria. The attacks have different impacts and consequences on different victims.
This ultimately leads to a weird situation where the offender is portrayed as a messiah who brings peace to the victims but hospitalizing them.
