The Callisto Protocol has shaped up to be one of the most anticipated games of this year, owing to the fact that it’s directed by Glen Schofield, who previously created the iconic Dead Space franchise, and the game proudly wears its Dead Space influence, although it’s aiming to be scarier than Dead Space. Recently, there were some rumors about a potential delay, but the developers have confirmed that’s not the case.
The developers at Striking Distance Studios confirmed that The Callisto Protocol will be shipping globally on December 2nd without any delay, and the game will also have a performance mode which will support 60 FPS on next-gen consoles. Check out the confirmation tweet below:
Many fans were excited to hear this news as they were worried about a potential delay and they were worried that the game wouldn’t support 60 FPS on next-gen consoles. Some Twitter users replied to the tweet believing that they were throwing shade at Gotham Knights following the announcement that it won’t support 60 FPS on next-gen consoles while the PC version would support it, which was met with backlash.
The tweet was met with positive replies as fans were happy that the game is going to take full advantage of the next-gen consoles. Previously, it was announced that The Callisto Protocol will also support ray-tracing, along with other features such as AI upscaling and algorithmically determining realistic lighting for the atmosphere of the game.
It’s good news for fans that are waiting for this game as it’s aiming to be the scariest next-gen survival horror game and also kind of a spiritual successor to Dead Space. Glen Schofield has said that just as Dead Space was one of the scarier games of its generation, The Callisto Protocol aims to be the same for this generation, which is sure to excite fans of the genre.
The Callisto Protocol officially launches on December 2nd for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
