The first episode of The Beginning After The End (TBATE) featured the main character, who was an all-powerful king in a world where power meant everything. Until one day, he suddenly collapsed and found himself in the body of a baby, born to loving parents, Reynolds and Alice. The king was named Arthur, and he had no clue about what had happened to him. His lack of control over his own body had him really frustrated.
Arthur was quite displeased with his new life due to the number of ways in which it differed from his old life. He wasn’t used to being taken care of or pampered. He also didn’t like his body over which he had little to no control. His only solace came to be when he discovered from his parents that the new world he lived in had the concept of magic. Arthur was keen on learning more, but his newly born body wouldn’t comply with his immediate needs.
After turning two months old, when Arthur learnt how to crawl, he snuck out of his cradle during naptime and read some books in his parents’ study to understand more about the world he lived in. He learnt that he lived in a continent called Dicathen. His family lived in the Sapin kingdom, which was under the rule of a monarchy. He also learnt that the world he lived in had the concept of mana and that mana was primarily used in two ways: to augment and to conjure. Augmenters could strengthen their bodies with mana, and Conjurers could project mana and use it as they pleased.
Upon turning two years old, Arthur had finally become able to walk and gained a little bit of freedom. He was even taken outside to the town occasionally, which gave him an idea about how the world worked and how people used magic. After learning that his father was an Augmenter and that his mother was a Conjurer, Arthur felt really determined to use magic, so he excused himself between naptime and started to train to use magic.
Arthur was able to focus all of his mana in a single point to produce a mana core, which is one of the first steps in using magic. Things were going smoothly until Arthur’s magic became unstable and caused the house to explode, injuring his father in the process. His worried parents rushed to his side to discover that he had an immense potential for magic, but above all, they were overcome with relief on seeing that Arthur was unharmed from the explosion. Watching his parents’ undying love for him had Arthur overwhelmed, and he burst into tears.
