The first two episodes of Star Wars: Bad Batch gave us non-stop adrenaline rushes with Clone Force 99 doing what they do best, i.e., wreaking havoc. This week’s episode takes us away from the Bad Batch and introduces Crosshair in season 2.
In season 1, Crosshair abandoned Clone Force 99 after Order 66 and went to join the Empire’s forces.
The episode starts off in Dessex, where the Governor refuses to give in to the Galactic Empire. When the Imperial Officer rejects the demands and threatens them, the droids surround the Empire’s army and take them, hostage.
Meanwhile, in the Imperial Headquarters, Vice Admiral Rampart chooses Crosshair to accompany Commander Cody to lead a mission to Dessex and free the hostages.
On Dessex, we see the droids surrounding the Imperial Governor. When the Imperial shuttle arrives, the Dessex Governor orders the droids to shoot down the shuttle.
When the droids inspect it, they conclude that everyone is dead. But they are wrong. Crosshair and Commander Cody come out and shoot those droids down. Although they are injured, they are alive. Now they must make their way to the city barefoot.
What follows are some intense action sequences, as Crosshair shoots down the droids with pinpoint accuracy. After defeating a barrage of droids, they finally arrive where the Imperial Governor is held hostage.
Commander Cody’s Dilemma
Commander Cody’s greatest tragedy has always been the presence of conscience while working under a ruthless Dictator’s regime.
In this week’s episode, the Dessex Governor has the Imperial Officer at gunpoint when Cody and Crosshair go to negotiate.
The Dessex Governor tells them that the Empire needs to declare the planet independent, and she will let him go. Commander Cody takes off his helmet, puts the gun down, and tells her that negotiation is an option. He tries to explain that too many people have lost their lives, and they have been through one war. So, there is no need for more bloodshed.
The Governor lets the Officer go, but he instantly commands them to shoot her. Commander Cody hesitates as he just promised her that there will be no bloodshed.
Just then, we hear a gunshot, and we realize what has happened. Crosshair has shot the Dessex Governor from the background. The Imperial Officer orders them to display the body in the square so that it can warn the other rebels.
In the end, we see Admiral Rampart ordering Crosshair to lead another mission. Crosshair asks about Commander Cody’s whereabouts, to which Rampart says that he has gone AWOL.
This week’s episode doesn’t feature Clone Force 99, but we see Crosshair in his latest mission. The Imperial Regime is still trying to find its footing, and intergalactic rebels are commonplace now.
Will we see Commander Cody anymore in the following episodes? If yes, then on which side?

Dee Bradley Baker reprises his role as voice actor for all the clone troopers from the previous Star Wars animated projects. Additionally joining him are Ming-Na Wen, Stephen Stanton, Andrew Kishino and Michelle Ang.
The Bad Batch follows the elite and experimental troopers of Clone Force 99 as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone Wars. Choosing to become an independent group of mercenaries the show will see them undertake dangerous missions.
