Lihaku is worried about Pairin being bought out and asks Maomao for the estimated price. Maomao considers every possible candidate for Pairin and deems Lihaku the best one. Maomao asks Lihaku to strip so she can determine if his body is Pairin’s type, but Jinshi walks in on them.
Jinshi questions Maomao ruthlessly, and all her answers shock him, but he finds out it was all for Pairin. Jinshi calls out Lihaku, who is suspicious of his intentions. Jinshi offers to lend Lihaku money to buy Pairin out, making him more suspicious.
Lihaku asks Jinshi why he would trust him, and Jinshi admits it’s because Maomao trusts him. Lihaku is grateful for the offer but refuses it as he is determined to do it on his own. Jinshi leaves satisfied by his response as he was only testing Lihaku.
Lihaku decides to write a letter to Pairin to ask about her feelings. Maomao also writes a letter to Pairin about Lihaku. In reality, Lakan was the one who went to discuss buying out a courtesan, which caused the misunderstanding.
