3. Episode 7 Recap
Itsuki asks Amane to let him stay over as he got into a fight with his father regarding Chitose. Since the spring break is starting, Amane agrees. Mahiru cooks dinner for everyone. Despite all the teasing, Itsuki sincerely advises Amane to think his relationship with Mahiru over.
After hearing that Itsuki is staying over, Chitose invites herself over to eat Mahiru’s cooking and, on her permission, stay the night over in her apartment. They all enjoy the dinner made by Mahiru, and Chitose also advises Mahiru to open up more and let her true feelings out.
At night, Chitose sends a picture of Mahiru holding the teddy bear Amane gave him, making Amane flustered. Itsuki also shares Amane’s picture with her. Itsuki leaves the next day, staying over at Chitose’s place for a few days.
While returning after getting some groceries, Amane sees a woman visiting Mahiru, berating her and telling her she will not visit again after Mahiru graduates. Mahiru tells Amane that the woman was Sayo, her biological mother. She assures him that she is used to her behavior but Amane insists on staying with her.
Amane hold Mahiru’s hands to comfort her while she tells him about her tragic past. She reveals that she was an unwanted child as her parents never married out of love. They were barely present in her lives, and her housekeeper raised her. They cannot get divorced while she is around, so they are just waiting for her to graduate and cut her off their lives.
She also reveals that the day she was sitting in the rain, it was after her mother had told her that she was unwanted directly. Amane holds onto her and tells her to let out her emotions. Mahiru cries while holding Amane, which is followed by embarrassment after she calms down.
Mahiru asks Amane what she should do since people only like her because of her façade as an angel. Amane tells her that he likes her real self. After he realizes how his words sounded, he tells her quickly that Chitose, Itsuki, and his parents also like her real self. Mahiru cries out of happiness this time, and tells Amane to keep looking and holding onto her.
The both of them take a walk while holding hands amidst the cherry blossoms. Mahiru tells Amane that she never liked the cherry blossoms or spring since it reminds her of all the times she was alone. Amane tells her that he is there for her, and Mahiru smiles, saying she likes the blossoms a little more now.
