Hachi-Nan Tte, Sore Wa Nai Deshou!‘s manga was picked up by Shin-Ei Animation studio for an animated adaptation.
The first season of the anime premiered on 2nd April and is scheduled to run for a total of 12 episodes, 6 of which have already aired.
1. Release Date
Halfway into the English sub of the series, Crunchyroll has announced that the English dub is on its way.
Starting 14th May, viewers can stream the English dub of The 8th son? Are you kidding me? on Crunchyroll with new episodes airing every Thursday.
2. Plot Thus Far
The story starts off with Shingo Ichinomiya, an average salaried man living in Japan. One day he wakes up and finds himself in a magical fantasy world.
His new life is as Wendelin von Benno Baumeister, the eighth son of the noble Baumeister family. Even though his family belongs to nobility, they do not have much land or money. The little land that they have will eventually be inherited by the eldest son, Kurt, leaving the 7 other sons to fend for themselves.
While collecting firewood, Wendelin finds out that he is endowed with magical powers. Sensing these powers, a wizard named Alfred vows to guide Wendelin.
Wendelin keeps his powers a secret from his family, as it would make him the heir, which might motivate Kurt to assassinate him. Wendelin announces that he will become an adventurer by going to the Adventurers Academy.
However, since it is expensive, he decides to work to pay for it himself. Alfred teaches Wendelin how to use his powers to fly. With the help of his father, Wendelin discovers that Alfred is actually an undead spirit who came back to the world of the living to pass on his knowledge. Years pass by, and Wendelin sets off on his journey.
Wendelin, with his extreme magical capacity and lousy communication skills, joins the Academy, where he draws a lot of attention. He makes three friends — Erwin, Louise, and Lina. Duke Braihiraider takes the 4 of them to meet court wizard, Brantack Lyngstad, Alfred’s former teacher, who confirms his suspicions that Alfred passed his knowledge to Wendelin.
For returning Alfred’s possessions, Wendelin is rewarded with 1000 gold coins and Alfred’s entire estate. Wendelin makes his way to his brother’s wedding, accompanied by his three friends. He fights and defeats an undead dragon and collects its valuable remains.
This task earns him face time with the King and the rank of a Baronet. After much discussion amongst high ranking members of the kingdom, Wendelin is rewarded with 150,000 gold coins, which he uses to buy gifts for his brother.
Wendelin is tricked into a political marriage with Elize. He doesn’t want to marry someone he doesn’t love, but his brother explains to him that it is often the case. To handle all the unnecessary fame he earned from his dragon-slaying incident, he hires Erwin as his retainer.
This makes Louise and Lina jealous, they decide to become Wendelin’s mistresses after he is married to Elize. Wendelin is invited to a dinner with Elize, after which he buys her a ring, which coincidentally goes perfectly with Elize’s healing powers.
The King asks Wendelin to slay an ancient dragon, Greigorland, as he needs more land for his kingdom. Wendelin enlists the help of Elize, Louise, Lina, and Erwin along with other adventurers to protect the area from more monsters who are sure to attack after Greigorland is defeated.
Wendelin kills Greigorland and takes his valuable remains. This whole incident makes Elize realize that Wendelin is a good-hearted person and makes her like him more. The next day, Elize asks Louise and Lina if they are also Wendelin’s finances.
Sensing a chance to become his wives, both Louise and Lina announce they also want to marry him. With Elize’s support, Wendelin nervously agrees, ending up with three happy fiances.

The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me? It is a Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Y.A. and illustrated by Fuzichoco.
It was serialized online between June 2013 and March 2017 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō.
The story is about the Isekai genre. It revolves around Shingo Ichinomiya, an average salaried man who one day wakes up to find himself in a magical fantasy world. His new life is as Wendelin von Benno Baumeister, the eighth son of the noble Baumeister family.
One day Shingo finds out that he is endowed with magical powers, and Alfred, an undead former court wizard guides him to train his powers. Shingo soon becomes a swordsman and a mage and makes a name for himself as a brave adventurer.
