The grand finale screening of the That Time I Got Reincarnated As Slime: Scarlet Bond anime film in Japan was followed by the announcement of a new three-episode original anime for the franchise.
The anime Koriusu no Yume will debut this fall with long-time franchise collaborator Takuma Terashima composing the opening theme song.
The Coleus’ Dream side story was a short story featured in the bonus booklet included with the second season’s Blu-Ray release. The story became a major inspiration for the Scarlet Bond film.
The “epic spectacle story” is set between the first two television seasons when Rimuru faces intrigue swirling around the Coleus Kingdom.
Koriusu no Yume is the second initiative in the “Tensura 10th Project” commemorating the 10th anniversary of the light novel series. The first initiative, “Toaru Kyūka no Sigoshi-kata“, is Fuse’s special story set between the ninth and tenth light novel volumes.
The third initiative of the franchise is its upcoming campaign to celebrate the franchise topping 40 million copies in circulation, which includes 35 million copies of the various books within Japan and 5 million overseas.
Lastly, the franchise has confirmed its first stage play is in the works and will premiere in August this year.
About That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime
That Time I Got Reincarnated as Slime is a Japanese manga series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. It was serialized online in 2013 but was later shifted to Micro Magazine as a light novel in 2014. It currently has 21 volumes.
The story of Tensei Shitara Slime follows the journey of Satoru Mikami after he died and reincarnated as a slime in fantasy land. A slime is a creature that reproduces the form and powers of anything that it absorbs or eats.
Satoru starts eating all the magical herbs and crystals in the cave he woke up in and stumbles upon a dragon who had been captured and couldn’t move due to a barrier. Since both of them had nothing else to do, they befriend each other. The dragon accidentally makes Satoru a named monster, and Satoru promises him that he’d find a way to break the barrier. Hence, an unknown journey begins with this unusual friendship.
